Noticed I never posted by rules and rounds.
In a Ring Non-title: 3x5min rounds Titles: 1x10min round and 2x5min rounds. Legal moves (when allowed by sanctioning committee): Knees to downed opponent, kicks to head when on stomach and elbows are allowed. Affliction has two TV shows, Proving Grounds (TV special events) and Rising Tides (Monthly TV event). Ive chosen not to post those just because it already takes so long to play the game I think Id go crazy if I did them all. So I'll try to keep updated a little on background coming into PPVs. But that all depends on how dizzy i am from the meds ![]() Hey guys, thanks for following. I really appreciate it as Im held up in my house with a work-related leg injury, just waiting for my University to start its next semester. This game and forum is a God send for me. Playing the game and writing this stuff down is all that keeps me from focusing on pain. Although, its proven tough to keep track of certain things because of pain meds . Upcoming PPV: Emelianenko vs Lashley: Yes, oddly enough (and as much as I hated it) Bobby Lashly has established himself early as a great MMA fighter defeating Paul Buentello, Todd Duffee and Pedro Rizzo in three consecutive months. Rizzo was ranked #5 in the world at Heavyweight. Coupling Lashly's good performance in the league was the unfortunate losses for Semmy Schilt and Ben Rothwell as well as Roy Nelson's contractual obligations to another organization, Lashley was the most obvious choice as Emelianenko's next title defense. No other matches had been set up for this PPV as it is still two months out. Other Matchups: Andre Arlovski (#5 HW) vs. Josh Barnett (#6 HW) - Both fighters have lost to Fedor in attempts to claim the title. This is Josh's first fight since the loss and Arlovski is coming off a UD victory over Alistair Overeem in a surprisingly uneventful match. Igor Pokrajac vs. Vladmir Matyushenko - Matyushenko has dropped two in a row and to fall from his #3 LHW ranking. Pokrajac is one of the many claimed in Affliction's heavy campaign for expansion. We hope for big things from either of these fighters. Last edited by Shalabi : 12-11-2008 at 09:21 PM. |

October 2008:
Affliction 6: Fedor vs. Lashley Ariel Sexton def Eddie Alvarez via choke in the 2:16 of the 3rd round. Antonio Silva def. Ray Sefo via TKO (punches) in 2:32 of the 1st round. Wes Sims def. Kimbo Slice via Unanimous Decision Vladimir Matushenko def. Igor Pokrajac via TKO (punches) in 1:15 of the 1st. Phil Baroni def. Chris Lytle via Unanimous Decision Andrei Arlovski def. Josh Barnett via Split Decision Fedor Emelianenko def. Bobby Lashley via TKO 1:40 in the 1st round. Eddie Alvarez is about to lose his contract with Affliction after a 1-3 showing. Ariel Sexton continues to win and will have a contenders fight next. Antonio Silva is looking in good form but will need a more dangerous opponent next time through. Wes Sims' experience seemed to help him win out over Kimbo Slice. Vladimir seems to have bought himself a little more time in the Affliction fold. Phil Baroni will get a title shot against another talent to be named later as there is a vacant Middleweight belt after Matt Lindland was released. Andrei Arlovski has secured another matchup with Fedor in about 5-7 months and Bobby Lashley will have to take his well-beaten tail back to the drawing board and hope he can continue surprising the Affliction fans until he can earn another shot. |

Belfort. Jared Hamman def. Lil Nog by TKO in :48 of round two. Again, Hamman has some hope. Lil Nog proves to be, once again unreliable. Chris Lytle def. Anthonly Lapsley by UD in three. Kimbo Slice def. Bobby Lashley by UD in three. This fight proved to be the highest rated fight in Affliction history. Alright, now I'll do my best to keep up-to-date with the PPVs and give some backstory. I'll also attempt to show any title fights for my TV events. Thanks for the interest guys. Cant believe anyone even follows this but I do appreciate it. |

So I had the ill conceived idea of running a Heavyweight Grand Prix to decide the next Affliction HW champion. Good idea in theory, bad because its a mix-n-match set up. Regardless Im running a TV series special on it and I'll post those accordingly. Each round's matchups are decided by random.org to keep me from giving someone an easy road.
There are 16 participants for the main tournament and an 8-man reserve tourney that will run at the same time. Hope you guys enjoy it. Affliction: Heavyweight Grand Prix Round One Ben Rothwell vs. Kongo Orvil Palmer vs. James Thompson Heath Herring vs. Brad Imes Bobb Sapp vs. Lavar Johnson Alistair Overeem vs. Frank Mir Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett Kimbo Slice vs. Todd Duffee Antonio Silva vs. Andrei Arlovski Paul Buentello vs. Travis Fulton (reserve bout) Jason Riley vs. Cabbage (reserve bout) Bobby Lashley vs. Wes Sims (reserve bout) Roy Nelson vs. Dan Puder (reserve bout) Last edited by Shalabi : 12-11-2008 at 10:37 PM. |

California, October 2010
Affliction 14: Benavidez vs. Veach Yoshihiro Tomioka vs. Takashi Nakakura - An ever expanding Featehrweight division gets even deeper with these two nihongin powerhouses. Jeremia Billington vs. Travis Wiuff - Wiuff looks to cement a contender opportunity. Billington, who was shelved with an injury looks to get back on track. Phillipe Nover vs. Ville Manninen - Manninen is young and already making a mark with a 2-1 Affliction record. Nover has a meager 1-2 record and needs a win to secure his job. Fabricio Monteiro vs. Simeon Thoresen - Thoresen (3-1 in Affliction) is attempting to grab a top-contender spot while Monteiro looks to prove his 2000/2000 rolling contract pay is worth the money. Fred Freebush vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama - On paper this fight looks to be heavily favored for Aki; However, Freebush, who began his career in Affliction (3-1) has shown he's not afraid of veterans having already gathered a victory over Vitor Belfort and a loss to Scott Smith. Yuksuke Endo vs. Ariel Sexton - Both fighters have had an up and down road with Affliction and this fight will secure on of them a job for the time being while the other will be on thin ice. Luke Stewart vs. Thiago Silva (WW Champ) non-title fight - Stewart has rallied of three wins in Affliction but against remedial talent. Alves needed some competition to fulfill contractual obligations and will take Luke on in a non-title fight. It's a double-edge sword fight for both warriors. Wilson Reis vs. Yoshiro Maeda (FW Champ) Wilson is 10-1 in his career and has jumped right into the fire facing off against Maeda for the title. While some question Wilson leapfrogging both Benavidez and Veach, the prospect of the two undefeated fighters facing one another first was too rich to pass up. Joseph Benavidez vs. Matt Veach - Neither fighter has lost in their career and are fighting for a chance to take on Maeda in March. It's a classic battle of jiu-jitsu vs. Wrestling. |
