* Layne fought well the first 2 rounds but Marciano was to much for Layne and gave him a severe beating. The fighters were constantly boo'ed by the crowd as the fight turned into more of a wrestling match and the fighters were warned. At the end of the bout Layne was in bad shape with a bleeding cut over and under his right eye, his right eye was also very badly swollen.
