Default The BrockLock Blog

Alright, just wanted a spot to talk about how I feel about the wrestling industry and with The Royal Rumble tonight there has never been a better time to start. Im just going to be doing my predictions on the Rumble tonight, if anyone wants to comment, feel free.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The BrockLock Blog #1 Royal Rumble Predictions

WWE Championship
Jeff Hardy(C) Vs Edge
This should be a very good match, both of these guys are wrestlers that can steal the show at any event no matter what. Hardy is IMO the most over guy in the WWE right now but Edge also has an amazing amount of heat from the crowd. Should be a very fast paced match a lot of quick pin attempts and lots of 2 counts. In the end I think Hardy deseves a title match at Wrestlemania and a singles win against Edge makes this title reign legit. So i see Hardy going over but I think by DQ becuase Christian returns and attacks him.
Winner-Jeff Hardy by DQ

ECW Championship
Jack Swagger(C) Vs Matt Hardy
A lot can be said about Swagger getting the title to early, the guy is very young and not all that great on the mic and in past weeks has not looked that great in the ring either. I think this title run is a test run for him and I could see it being very short. But not this short. Swagger retains the title but loses it before Wrestlemaina. Also Hardy should be the one to hold it so he can help train the next big things in the ring and on the mic but he shouldnt be chasing after the title.
Winner Jack Swagger

WWE Womens Championship
Beth Phoenix(C) Vs Melina
Melina has not been on fire like a lot of people thought she was going to be when she returned but she was had an ok face run. I think to make her a true face in the eyes of the fans she needs to take Beth down. I think the timing is right for Beth to lose the title and her #1 fan Rosa will get involved and then Beth wont look weak when she loses it.
Winner Melina

WWE World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena(C) Vs JBL
We have seen this match before and while it is alright it is nothing special. Cena can normally make anyone look decent enough and this match should be interesting just becuase of HBK in JBL's corner. There is talk of doing a HBK Vs JBL match at Wrestlemania but I dont think it should Main Event Wrestlemania which I why I think Cena retains tonight and they can move towards a JBL/HBK match, just one without the title on the line.
Winner John Cena

The Royal Rumble Match
This is more just throwing darts in the dark then a real prediction so lets look at the normal suspects. Triple H-Could win and set up a match against Hardy at Wrestlemania but for some reason I just cant see him winning tonight. The Undertaker-Could be a great way to get him back into the title picture but that would set up Hardy Vs Undertaker and they wont do a face/face match, so he is out. Randy Orton-The Legacy could sacrifce themselves to give Orton this win, I think Orton is a very good possibilty and I suspect he will be in the last 4 or 5 if not the winner.
Rey Mysterio- Rey Rey won it in 2007 but he was riding a huge wave of momentum right after Eddie's death. This year he is in an angle with Mike Knox. Ouch, thats a long fall. Any way Rey is to busy with Knox to get this win and he has no momentum, Rey doesnt have a chance. Chris Jericho-We have seen Jericho and Cena before but Chris needs some direction right now and a win here could give him that and maybe set up triple threat at Mania? Another good possibilty. In the end it all comes down to what sets up the biggest money making match at Wrestlemaina and I think with Orton's momentum from Legacy a Orton Vs Cena match could be very big but myabe Orton is going to be kept busy getting new members for Legacy. In the end its either Orton or Jericho and I am going to go with Jerichio off a hunch.
Winner-Chris Jericho

Alright hope you guys enjoyed that, yet again feel free to let your opinions be heard and comment about what you think.

I think Swaggers got the title in case Christian has to pull out of WWE because TNA is still shifty about lending out Christian.

Hardy is the back-up

Matt vs. Jeff at wrestlemania, how awesome would that be?

If it's anything like matches they've had before... not very.

Nah, before it was some cheap heat for a match.

but probably they will put in Edge to balance it out.

My predictions for the Rumble:

Edge vs Jeff Hardy
Edge to win title with Christian interfering leading to Jeff vs Christian at Wrestlemania.

Jack Swagger vs Matt Hardy
Swagger to retain (for now).

Melina vs Beth Phoenix
Melina to win with Rosa Mendes costing Beth the title somehow.

John Cena vs JBL
Cena to win and some sort of altercation between JBL and HBK leading to a match between the two at Wrestlemania.

Royal Rumble
Orton or HHH to win with Orton facing Cena at Wrestlemania possibly with Batista thrown in the mix (if recovered from injury) and/or HHH facing Edge at Wrestlemania.

Finally wonder if there will be any special guests in this years rumble?

Were you being serious? Because TNA has already said several times Christian has signed on with the WWE.

Wow pretty good response for the first blog.

Masked Orange-I think a Jeff Vs Matt match could be awesome but they have shown in the past they dont work well when they are agaisnt each other. And yea Steenick is right, Christian has signed with WWE, TNA is not going to "lend out" one of their main eventers to their number one competitor.

Sesby-Now that could be a damn good match, you could get all the classic tag spots but some great singles spots to, that could be a very good match.

Bestbitter-I was really considering Orton as my perdiction but I think Legacy takes precedence. And for some reason I just dont see HHH winning it, I cant explain why, just a feeling.

Anyway 3 hours untill Rumble time for me and Im getting pretty excited.

I haven't watched a WWE PPV since, well since last wrestlemania and I haven't paid personally for a WWE PPV in over 2 years. But I would shell out the full price of the PPV just to see this one match.

is that a joke? TNA has no contractual agreement with christian, so why would they lend out christian?

GUYS!

I heard wrong, it's a legit WWE contract, don't rub it in my face.

Also, I would hate to see TLC at wrestlemania, it's been done before, and it just won't match the hype. Because really you can't improve on the TLC matches they've already had.

So The Royal Rumble is in the books and I think it was money well spent, Ill give my take on how the rumble went down and also talk about the big news out of ROH's camp Ring Of Honor has confirmed a TV deal with HDNet.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The BrockLock Blog #2 Royal Rumble Aftermath and ROH TV Deal

So I will start out with the Royal Rumble. Overall a pretty good show, its considered a big 4 PPV by WWE and I think it hit on all its spots. Matt Hardy vs Swagger surprised me and was a good opening match. Swagger looked good out there and retained his title. Melina Vs Beth Phoenix was next and while a short match was good, Rosa did not get involved which surprised me but Melina did win the title which did not surprise me.

Cena vs JBL was also a good match, the ending was the perfect way to end it and still move the storyline so I give WWE props for that. Edge Vs Jeff Hardy, I did not like the change to no DQ at bell time I thought it was still a good match, Jeff going off the ladder on to Chavo was a very impressive spot. And the big turn of Matt on Jeff to win Edge the belt surprsied me but it looks like we will see a brother vs brother match at Wrestlemaina(Masked Orange, looks like your dream came true).

Then there was the Rumble, a solid Rumble more about the entertainment and anticipation then the in ring action but it was good. Big news is that RVD had a one night only return which surprsied me and I thought it was very cool to see him again, I like how they kinda kept the MVP losing streak going with him going out very quick. I liked Legacy dominating and getting Orton the win. If you read my last blog you know I thought that was a good possibility and I was not really surprised when Orton won but I still think it was a good decesion.

All in all I enjoyed the Royal Rumble there were no matches that were "must see's" but it started a good push to Wrestlemania and I am getting excited for the "grand daddy of them all" already.

And lastly Ring Of Honor got a TV deal with HDNet. I think this is huge news. I love Ring Of Honor, I was dissipointed when Gabe got fired but I still follow them. On the other hand i dont know about this TV deal for a couple of reasons. One, Gabe always went away from getting a TV deal when he was booker, he must have had a reason for it. Two, can Ring Of HOnor put the great action they are known for on a weekly basis? That will be a very hard work rate. And three, Mark Cuban. Cuban is the crazy owner of HDNet and the Dallas Mavericks and is under investiagation from the FEC(Federal Exchange Commission) for insider trading. This could effect HDNet in a big way and I think Ring Of Honor deserves a chance. While I would love a ROH tv show, I do not think now is the right time for them.

Well thats my thoughts, Im looking forward to RAW tonight for the fallout of the Royal Rumble, and I will post my RAW blog tomorrow sometime. Once again feel free to comment and I hope you enjoyed.

beth vs melina was a botchfest. i cant say that was a good match by any means.

that jeff ladder spot was botched and nearly was disasterous! his arms are the only thing that hit chavo. hes lucky he didnt seriously hurt himself.

i too enjoyed the actual rumble, thought that was great! i marked out for rvd, i thought the santino spot was hilarious. i didnt like the quick kendrick elimination. i thought mvp would get more time in.

Its funny you mention the Hardy ladder spot becuase I almost said something about how it almost missed but I think Hardy deserves props for even trying it in the first place.

And yes Melina and Beth had some botches but it dident take away from the match to much.

I was also upset and Kendrick going out, I love his new gimmick and heel character and I think he should get a push but thats not how it is going to start.
