Default Top Three

[This is a MMA topic.]
Curious as to who everyone has at the top of the main five division, HW/LHW/MW/WW/LW.

Heavyweight
1. Fedor Emelianenko
2. Frank Mir
3. Josh Barnett

Light Heavyweight
1. Rashad Evans
2. Quinton Jackson
3. Lyoto Machida

Middleweight
1. Anderson Silva
2. Robbie Lawler
3. Nate Marquardt

Welterweight
1. Georges St. Pierre
2. Thiago Alves
3. Jake Shields (He gets so overlooked it's criminal.)

Lightweight
1. Shinya Aoki (Though he seems to be branching out to his natural 170 now.)
2. BJ Penn
3. Kenny Florian/Joachim Hansen (Can't decide.)

A lot of hardcore fans overrate him though. He'd be a guy like Gray Maynard in the UFC. Beat all the guys before the elite, and that's who he'd lose to.

I think it's only for the GP though. And he has Mach in the first round.

Disagree, he's overlooked by most hardcore fans too, including Sherdog for the longest time too. I believe most fans refer to him as a 'wet blanket'. Very talented wrestler that is deserving of a high rank, given that he's beaten Sakurai, Menne, Okami, Condit, Thompson, and Daley. He's not really fun to watch, but he is talented. I think he'd do much better in the WW division than just losing to the elite.

I like Mach, but he doesn't look like he's in top form lately, at all. Maybe he will be for Aoki, I hope, but I can see Aoki grinding out a decision against Mach. I'd prefer Mach finish Aoki, though.

On a side note, Fitch vs Shields would be one of the most boring, but strategic matches since Sakuraba vs Newton. Haha.

Eh, I can't say I've seen too many "wet blanket" comments seeing as he relies on his BJJ and not his wrestling. He's not lay n' prey, he's working for a sub. I don't find him all that exciting nor top of the line. Like I said, I believe he's good... but not going to beat the elite guys at the top of the food chain (Even though he's beaten Okami by majority decision, was some time ago). I think he might even go the Jon Fitch route in that he is good enough to beat all the guys below, and then get totally wrecked at the top end.

As for Shields/Fitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKTgWUYsNB8
