Default Main event suggestions?

Maybe in the assistant section, clue us in on what fights fans are really aching to see?

On one hand, I can see as how this wouldn't be a great idea due to the fact it would be setting us up for *fantastic* events all the time.

But -- when the fighter popularity vs promotion popularity bug continues to cause *awful* events (even when setting up top seeded fighters from the ranking screen), something has to be done to curve that. I really enjoy this game, but the popularity problem continues to ruin the fun in it.

First, it's not a bug.

Second, it's only a problem because people don't like seeing the word "awful". If it was replaced with "not as good as your old events so you have now lost some popularity relevant to how far behind your previous awesome events this is" then people would complain less. But honestly, people are getting frustrated because they have the unrealistic expectation that they can maintain a 100 International level of popularity which isn't the case.

Your popularity is basically a balance of the success of your previous shows, with a bonus thrown in for people being able to see them on free TV. If you make people pay money, they expect more so it's harder to get great ratings on PPV, with the flipside being that you make a LOT more money.

But basically, people need to realise their expectations of being able to maintain maximum level popularity is WRONG. Just like in TEW, it's impossible to reach 100% popularity... in WMMA it is possible, but is not maintainable without charismatic, title heacy, win streak ladel, cultural icons stacking their roster.

If it's not a bug it's just a bad game mechanic. And I don't mean that to be insulting, but basing how well the event does on the anticipation of the big two matches, rather than how well the fights are, sucks.

Despite having several national stars, my popularity continues to take dings. I can't get my popularity high enough to even get a PPV contract. I've got a TV show going every two-three months and regular events in between that.

Like I said, I've got several fighters who've reached national level, and I can't put together a main event, or even a co main event that the fans are happy with. My top ranked fighters are on streaks, their only losses being to each other in earlier fights, and rematches don't please the crowd.

So I'm lost as to where to go. Hence thinking an inclusion of some kind of fight suggestion system would be nice.

thats not really the case though. ive done a few cards where the Main Event and Co-Main Event were both rated as very poor and Decent, Respectively, by the fans and the show still got a Great Rating. you cant just assume that its only based on anticipation because its not. the actual fights do play a part, you just have to make the decision on if its worth the risk of putting on a poorly anticipated fight and having it get a crappy rating and drag down the whole show. Dont get me wrong alot of times it'll suck more than suceed but if you dont try it then you cant just assume that its all based on anticipation.

You can get PPV deals even if you are a relatively small level company. Any national level promotion should be able to get a deal, it just depends on the size of the provider you are trying to get a deal with. IF you are trying to sign with a worldwide enormous level provider then you need huge level popularity around the world... if you are a decent sized company in America than you should be aiming for a deal with a provider that shows only in America and then you might get one.

The problem is almost certainly with the providers you are targetting, especially if you are at a level high enough for several high level fighters to be with your organisation.

I disagree totally. If it was only based on "how well the fights are", then the best way to run things would be to have a bunch of no-names out there and have them put on really exciting fights. For some reason, I don't see the UFC doing this.

I think what he means is the event rating (i.e how good the event was) Should revolve around how good the fights were, but the actual *attendance* should revolve around the stars etc.

In this way if you put on a great or fantastic event, without any huge stars, you won't LOSE popularity (since the people at the events would have had a great time) but you won' t *gain* any eithter (since it's unlikely your event drew new fans)
