Default Popularity Spillage?

Has anyone been able to get a comprehensive list of what areas spill over into other areas?

It just depends on what area is spilling over. Like since I'm based in the South West of the US, my pop will spill over into Northern Mexico, North West, and....I think mid south? And if the spill over becomes bigger, your spill over will spill over into other regions. Like if I get enough spill over in hawaii, it will spill into Japan.

I know a few, but obviously not all of them.

I DO know that the Mid South in the USA spills over mostly into the Mid West and South West, but I can't recall if any other areas get major spillover from the Mid South.

The Tri-State spills overs in one of the Canadia regions, and into the Great Lakes, New England, Mid Atlantic, and I think even into Puerto Rico.

Getting larger in Japan will lead to spillover in Hawaii, though I don't know if its any region in Japan that specifically does this or if any will.

And in Europe... the Mediterranean, Central Europe, and Scandinavia all spillover into each other (and when you get big enough into all the regions of the UK), but you neither get spillover into or from Eastern Europe. Ever.

Tri-State
  • Get to 17.1% in Tri State - Gain 5.1% in Great Lakes, Mid Atlantic, New England, The Maritimes, Quebec, & Ontario
  • 41.1% - Gain 17.1% in Great Lakes, Mid Atlantic, New England, The Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, 5.1% in The Prairies, British Columbia
  • 65.1% - Gain29.1% in Great L akes, Mid Atlantic, New England, The Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, 5.1% in South east, The Prairies, British Columbia
  • 83.1% - Gain 47.1% in Great Lakes, Mid Atlantic, New England, The Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, 17.1% in The Prairies, British Columbia, 5.1% in South East
A few things to note:

- If the overspill gain is GREATER than the overness in said region, it WILL NOT ADD, but rather REPLACE said overness. For example, if your tri-state based promotion gets to 17.1% overness in tri state, and you have 3.0% overness in the Great Lakes, it will become 5.1%, NOT 8.1% (3.0 + 5.1)
- If the overspill gain is LESS THAN the overness in said region, it WILL NOT ADD to that region, but simply remain the same. In the example I just noted, if you get a tri-state promotion to 17.1%, and you have 10.0% in the Great lakes, it will remain at 10.0%; it will not become 15.1% (10.0% + 5.1%)
- You don't HAVE to be based in a region to gain the overspill (you can concentrate in a different region). However, this is not a RULE; from my experiences, this sometimes happens, and sometimes it doesn't (you get the overspill or you don't) This is purely speculation on my part, but I think it depends on the # of regions in a country. So you'll see this phenomenon in USA & Japan (large # of regions), but may not in Mexico or Europe.

Mid Atlantic -- spills over to Great Lakes, South East
South East -- spills over to Puerto Rico, Great Lakes and Mid Atlantic

Hawaii -- spills over to South West and ALL JAPAN REGIONS
Type "Spillover" to search and you might find something

After some initial tests, it seems that you will get additional spill over when all home regions hit certain levels.

For example, all UK regions will spill over into each other at 17.1, 41.1, 65.1 and 83.1.

When all regions are at 41.1 then all 4 regions in Europe become 17.1.
When all regions are at 65.1 then all 4 regions in Europe become 35.1 and US, Canada, Japan and Australia become 17.1.
When all regions are at 89.1 then all 4 regions in Europe become 65.1 and US, Canada, Japan and Australia become 35.1.

Europe will spill into UK
Australia at 65.1 spills into the UK at 35.1 and then 65.1
Mexico spills into US, at 41.1 spills into US at 17.1, at 65.1 spills into US at 29.1, at 89.1 spills into US and Canada 47.1
Canada spills into US

When all Japan is at 41.1 then the world becomes 17.1.
When all Japan is at 65.1 then the world becomes 29.1.
When all Japan is at 89.1 the US and Canada become 65.1 and the rest become 47.1

When the US is at 41.1 then Japan, Canada and Mexico become 17.1.
When the US is at 65.1 then Canada and Mexico become 35.1, Japan becomes 29.1, and the rest become 17.1.
When the US is at 89.1 then Canada and Mexico become 65.1, Japan becomes 47.1, and the rest become 35.1.

And still need to run a few tests on individual regions.

Maybe Adam or someone with good knowledge of the game mechanics can say whether changing the Game World settings of regions importance will change spill over?

It will not. The spillover thingy is about the actual, real life locations of these places. You can clearly notice that southern regions in the US spillover to other southern regions or the regions in the Tri-State area spillover to others aswell. Altough you might aswell try and experiment by all means.

Tri State -- spills over to New England, Mid Atlantic, Great Lakes, The Maritimes, Quebec, and Ontario

There was actually a map where all these regions were listed but I can't seem to locate it
