Question: How do you add shows? When I try and add shows, it comes up with "You must book 4-8 matches.

A good program, mistaken.

crap, it looks like I broke something while messing with CSS this afternoon. give me a little while to find it.

**update**

ok, not broke, this appears to be an IE issue. may take me some time to find it, but i'll get there.

* note *

Sorry this thing is god awful ugly in IE right now as well, but it looks pretty good in Firefox & Chrome. if some one is running opera or safari, I will take feed back, but have no way to test them right now.

**update**

problem found, now I am trying to find the solution. IE is not registering the form variable match_num (the number of matches you picked) I was using getelementbyid, I switched to passing the from to the javascript funciton. this also worked in firefox, but still not in IE. I will keep trying.

**update**
Thank you for finding the cross browser bug, I believe I have killed it. IE REQUIRES a value as part of a Select/option box. Firefox and Chrome both relize that in absence of an explicit value the text is the value. bad MS.

Long week since last I posted.

The following things have taken me slightly off task
1) my new baby was born last monday 6/11/12 at 1:35 am, so I have been busy taking care of mom and baby
2) Diablo 3, I got it a week early for fathers day, because every one thought the baby would be late, and that would give me 'time' to play it. It's a great game.

The game:

So I think the graphical up grade went well in my opinion, feel free to leave yours so I can make tweaks, or complete overhaul if no one else likes it. (still more to go, but a good start was made.)

Since no one else commented, my anti-jobber rule will be the next thing to be added. once you have 5 more losses than wins, your out. we can adjust the exact number over time, but for now I'm going with my games classic rule set.

next up after that is going to be the user registration system. I know it may cut down on the people who stop by to 'see' how things look, but it's necessary to give out booker points for holding a show, and wrestler points for having your wrestlers participate. it is also crucial for stepping from 'every one can book' to having individual companies. granted that point is a long way off.

making some updates today as Diablo 3 is down for maintenance

1) the anti-jobber rule is in effect, if a wrestler gets to 5 more losses than wins, the wrestler retires.
2) the wrestler view page, was hard to see the wins at the end of the entry date, so I centered the wins, losses, ties & TTP
3) the wrestler view page, all columns are now sortable, click again to reverse the sort order. (at some point I will do division into pages of 50)
4) I am not sure I like the solution, but the nav buttons are now rounded and look almost right in IE 8.

I have started learning about SESSIONs. a simple logon page has been written.

things to be done before usernames and passwords arrive.

1) logon page (kind of done)
2) registration page, (not to worry this will be user name & password nothing else for now)
3) Account setting page (such as password reset)

I suggest using your GDS username, as I will reset passwords for any one PMing me from a matching name (at least for now).

*) to keep every thing else going, right now I am going to try and put match histories up on the individual wrestlers pages.

match history now 'works' on the individual wrestler pages, but I really think that the winner should come first, and that losses should be highlighted in red, and wins highlighted in green.

to use the link copy and paste into you browser, and remove the spaces before home. I don't want the bots eating up my bandwidth or play with my site as I build it.

the goal for this holiday weekend ->

1) write a help page
2) write rules page

I showed the site to a friend, his response:
him: "This looks really cool, what does it do?"
Me: "It's a wrestling simulator, only it's more real than wrestling"
him: "um, ok. but what am I supposed to do from this screen"
Me: "Add a wrestler"
him: "Why? and how was I supposed to know that"
Me: *scratch my head* "well so you can put them in a match"
him: "Oh, how do I do that?"
Me: *point at screen, to the add show button*
him: "Ok. Well now what it's asking me for a number."
Me: "well give it the number of match"
him: click, click, click "WHY DIDN'T IT TELL ME EARLIER I COULDN"T USE THE SAME CHARACTER TWICE? and why doesn't it tell me who was used twice?"
Me "erm ... My bad?" *then light bulb, I need a rules link, and a help file!*

ok, so raising a baby takes time.

the good news is that i wrote the rules and faq page over the fourth of july weekend like i said.

the bad news? it took me a month to get 15 minutes alone with my computer again to implement it out.

it has been posted.

next stop user accounts. my current goal is to have a proto type working by the beginning of September.

one thing at a time.

they are on my to do list, just not very high up. because when I do them, I want to make it so that almost any match type can be added, so alot more planning that 'just tag matches' has to go into programming it out.

On a high note, I am making a small change right now. when booking a match, you don't have access to records. well now you do!

if I can do it quickly I am also going to provide a quick sort by wins & losses.

Everything looks good for what it is, but I think I might be missing something.

For example, are you going to eventually add stats that effect match outcomes?

Right now, to me it looks like it's just random, in that both have as much chance at winning or losing, luck of the die.

firstly thank you for taking the time to play and comment.

I have lots of 'plans' so I will stick to how it currently works.

there is a 1 d 20 random component + na advantage score that improves with each win (well from -1 to 2 up each win) if enough rounds are played 'superstars' would emerge. people who always won fights versus nobodies.
