Default Herb Abrams UWF - 1991

Been a while since I had a diary going, so thought I'd try something a bit different and see how long I last. I'm using an edited version of Rising Storms for this.

UWF January 1991

UWF Fury Hour - Week 1 January 1991

The show starts with Herb Abrams looking his usual bedraggled self, he holds aloft a new belt and announces a Tournament to crown a SportsChannel Television Champion. This tournament will last right up until the planned Beach Brawl event in June, with Herb promising "marquee matches each week" as a result. Herb also drops the big one, with the news that "Colonel DeBeers will not take part in this Tournament. His recent actions meaning he has been put on watch by UWF management". (C-)

Col DeBeers defeats Tom Brandi (E)
Post-match, Colonel DeBeers came across to the announce booth and launched a tirade.

"I couldn't care less if I've been put on watch. Herb had better watch himself, he'd better watch just exactly what he does to me. Brandi just suffered, he's just lucky someone like Larry Sanders wasn't in the middle of the ring. As for Parsons...PARSONS, you ever get in my business again and I'll knock you down and out. Down and out, then I'll drag you out in to the street where your type belong!" (D-)

The SportsChannel TV Tournament draw is taking place, various wrestlers are backstage as Herb notices Bob Orton is missing.
"Has anyone seen Bob...anybody? Steve Ray, have you seen Bob...well, come on son, have you? Oh forget it, you know what here's your opponent!" Herb hands Steve a piece of paper then explains the process to the others. (C-)

B Brian Blair defeats Louie Spicolli (C-)

Bam Bam Bigelow defeats Steve Ray (D)
Bam Bam Bigelow takes a microphone after the match.

"Parsons, it would appear you're the unlucky one. The SportsChannel TV title is coming my way, sleep well until we meet!" (C)

Captain's Corner sees Lou Albano sitting down with Bob Orton Jnr and John Tolos.

"Bob, we've travelled down the road and I've seen your pain at missing out on titles. Yet here..."

"Let me stop you Lou and, John, you can take tonight off my friend. You know, I have travelled Lou and I have missed out on titles. I've missed out on moments too, had my fair share of times when I had to bite my lip, be a partner, be an ACE, help guys out and it's wrong. I am the legend at being the other guy, the guy who people think oh aye him. Well, I did not come to the UWF to live that life. No sir, not for one single day will I put anyone except myself or anything except my goals first. Herb Abrams comes out on television and announces the SportsChannel Television Tournament. Big wow Lou, you know what I'm saying! Come on, you know, you've been there too. I'm not going to destroy my body for that belt, for the fans or for the SportsChannel. Indeed, until the UWF decides that they want to either give me proper competition or a World Heavyweight Title to go for then you may not seen me in that ring period!" (C)

Craig DeGeorge and Bruno Sammartino are shown discussing Orton and Orndorff. Bruno verbally dances around their history a bit, mentioning that it couldn't have been easy to have been an extra on THAT show. DeGeorge comments that it's interesting that Bob's decision has apparently seen Paul Orndorff receive a bye. (C)

UWF SportsChannel TV Title Tournament First Round match:
Ivan Koloff defeats S.D.Jones (D+)

UWF Fury Hour - Week 2 January 1991

The show starts with Craig DeGeorge and Bruno Sammartino standing addressing the camera.

"Good evening folks and welcome to another Fury Hour. We have a fantastic hour for you tonight, but first Bruno..."

"Yes Craig, but first let us introduce our new colleague on commentary. He's an old friend of mine, a familiar face and I am so happy to introduce Alfred Hayes."

"Well, thank you Bruno and hello again Craig. It really is fantastic to be here in the UWF and I'm looking forward to all these fine fine athletes putting on some great matches. I'm slightly distracted though as we're about to go to the ring, but Herb is over there on his phone."

{The camera pans across and Herb gives a thumbs up}

"Well anything can happen here Alfred, but for now I'll give a quick run down of some of the action we'll be seeing. We'll have Iceman Parsons in action against Bam Bam Bigelow. We'll be seeing Steve Williams in action and also, a debut, Matt Borne will be here. Great action promised here Bruno..."

"It is Craig, although we were expecting two debuts and sadly one of those guys are over in Japan. Of course, we'll also have Ask The Wrestlers and this week it's a question for Paul Orndorff."

"Wow, it does indeed sound like I've come to the right place Craig. Let's not wait folks, Sunny Beach is already in there so let us not keep him waiting." (D+)

Matt Borne defeats Sunny Beach (D+)

After the match, Matt walks over to Herb.

"I want that last slot!"

"I'm on the phone here Matt, I'll..."

"Oh, okay okay. You've got the shot."

Both men shake hands and Herb returns to his phone call. (D-)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"Hello again everybody. You all know me, my history and my achievements. Tag champions, single champions, greats and some not so great. But, one thing is for certain and that is that I never managed a man as disgusting as this man here. I can't even say his na..."

"DeBeers, it's Colonel DeBeers, you washed up and pathetic piece of American wrestling history. Don't even try to shut me up...touch me again and I'll rip that beard off your sti..."

"What? My stinking face? Let me tell you DeBeers, your racist nonsense will not be tolerated in the U..."

"SHUT UP! You make me sick, America makes me sick, Americans make me sick and negro Americans make me even sicker. Iceman Parsons has walked in to the wrong war Captain, he's tredding dangerous ground and will be destroyed. Anyone having an issue with that has an issue with not only me, but with my country. America doesn't want to go to war with South Africa."

"Cut it short, cut it...I'm sick of hearing it..." (C-)

We return to the announce team, Hayes with a look of disgust on his face.

"Bruno, Alfred, there's not a lot we can say at this point."

"Certainly not Craig, perhaps Alfred and myself should deal with the Colonel."

"Ha, yes, that would indeed be interesting. I feel there's plenty ahead of us though." (C-)

Steve Williams defeats Dusty Wolfe (D+)

Ken Patera cuts a promo

"Kirchner, next week it's you and I in the Television Title Tournament. I've just extended my deal and you are going to see why fans of the UWF wanted me to stay. Sadly for you though, there will be no enjoyment on next weeks Fury Hour." (C)

B.Brian Blair defeats Larry Power (D+)

At the announce area, Herb Abrams is standing with Craig DeGeorge.

"Not sure why I'm standing up here Herb..."

"It's so you can feint through sheer excitement Craig. Those two are lucky they're sitting down already."

"Well, I see you're off the phone."

"I am Craig and I have huge news, MASSIVE news. On the last Friday of this month, we will debut our monthly New York show!!!!"

"Wow, that is big news and I'm just going to sit down and recover whilst the next match is on." (E+)

Greg Valentine defeats Riki Ataki (D+)

Ask The Wrestlers:

"Wow Dennis, that's a great question and thank you for asking it. It doesn't surprise me that Bob Orton has made that statement. It annoys me, but it only annoys me because the fans could be missing out on a wonderful match. It would be foolish of me to announce any plan and Paul Orndorff isn't foolish. Hopefully we will see that match though Dennis and I hope you'll write in afterwards to tell us how much you enjoyed it." (C-)

UWF SportsChannel TV Title Tournament First Round match:
Bam Bam Bigelow defeats Iceman King Parsons
[Col DeBeers would come to ringside during the match, distracting both Parsons and referee Larry Sanders. The finish came as Bigelow whipped Parsons in to the corner, taking out Larry Sanders. The count was made by replacement official Jesse Hernandez.] (C)

UWF Fury Hour - Week 3 January 1991

"Hello and welcome to another fantastic hour on the Fury Hour."

"It'll be fantastic indeed Craig. Though, not as fantastic as the announcement last week."

"The Big Apple Bruno, as you know I've worked there many many times and can't wait to get back. What I can wait to see again is Colonel DeBeers. What absolutely despicable actions last week. How have you both managed to put up with it?"

"With great difficulty, let me tell you. I'm not so old that I couldn't teach him a lesson, but I have to remain professional and work with Craig and now yourself Alfred."

"We both thank you for that Bruno, keep the madness away from us. But now, let's go over the madness that we will be bringing to our fans this evening. We'll have Ken Patera in tournament action versus Corporal Kirchner, Iceman Parsons will be talking to Captain Lou and by the looks of it we're also going to see Colonel DeBeers in action." (C)

Match #1
The Power Twins defeated Wet 'n' Wild (E-)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"You know folks, I'm usually ranting and raving on here. You see the mad side of Captain Lou, but tonight it's a different mad. You see, I'm mad about Colonel DeBeers, mad about his actions and mad about his words. It's not something we want in the UWF and, Iceman, I am sorry."

"Thank you Lou, that's appreciated. You know, the Colonel cost me my match last week, disgusted everyone with the words he'd speek, he caused suffering to a friend, but we will see this end. DeBeers, you cost me my title opportunity and so I'm going to cost you brother."

"When, when?"

"Oh he'll find out soon enough Lou."

"Well Iceman, and you too DeBeers, remember that Captain Lou has many friends out there willing to do him a favour." (C-)

Match #2
Debbie Coombs and Judy Martin go to a 10 minute time limit draw (D-)

We are taken to Herb Abrams and Alfred Hayes.

"On the last Friday of this month the UWF are going to be in the Big Apple for a major show with all our stars."

"Fantastic news Herb, I've only been here a short time though the expertise of these fine fine wrestlers has already impressed me."

"Thank you Alfred, that means a lot. A LOT MY FRIEND!!! It'll also mean a lot to guys like Paul Orndorff, Steve Williams, Bam Bam Bigelow and Ivan Koloff."

"Each of them fine wrestlers in their own way. You don't need to like them all, but you can certainly respect them. Wow!"

"WOW indeed, WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! You know what, you'll bring some friends with you won't you Alfred. I know you've been back home for tea, LOVE IT!"

"You've taken me on the hop a little..."

"We'll talk later. But now, back to the action and I'll just wait here"

{Herb starts whistling} (C-)

Match #3
Riki Ataki defeats Colonel DeBeers by Count Out
[DeBeers would refuse to start the match as Larry Sanders was the assigned Referee. Eventually he entered the ring, but only if Sanders refereed from outside. Ataki would hit a top rope dropkick and cover, DeBeers claimed a fast count and the complaints would continue. Eventually Debeers would just step out the ring and take the count out.] (E)

A voice is heard bellowing across the venue

"DEBEERS...get your worthless racist ass over here!"

{Debeers exits the ring and gets straight in Herb's face}

"Step back...back..."

"Are you on something sir?"

"What? No, shut up...I've had enough of you. Attacking referees, using the n word, THE N WORD. Rumble in the Apple, we'll see the end of you. Now, get out my sight. Take us to commercial or something, NOW!" (E)

Don Muraco cuts a promo

"Next week, it's you versus me Cactus Jack. You're a bit out there brother, but next week on the Fury Hour it will be me taking you out of Television title contention." (C)

Match #4
Greg Valentine defeats Louie Spicolli (D=)

Ask The Wrestlers:

"Your Uncle, seriously...your Uncle! You stupid, ignorant, American fool! I'm Ivan Koloff, I look like nobody. I'm the Russian Bear and I'll destroy anyone inside or outside of a pathetic cage. I want everyone in a cage, just tell me and I'll tear them all apart." (D)

UWF Fury Hour - Week 4 January 1991

"Hello everyone, welcome again to the Fury Hour and all your UWF stars."

"You know Craig, we're days away from our show in New York...the Rumble in the Apple. I believe Alfred may even have news on that."

"Well Bruno, ha, I do have news and it's both good and bad. Although, tonight, we will see someone in action who really really is a ball of fury!"

"Good and bad Alfred, oh dear! But anyway, on to the show and we'll be having tag team action as Colonel DeBeers gets in the same ring as Iceman Parsons."

"Is Larry the Referee? I hope Larry is the Referee Craig, maybe we'll see DeBeers get what's coming to him."

"Moving on, we'll have Don Muraco in the Television Tournament."

"Will we be seeing David in this Tournament Bruno? He's always looked to me like a fine fine young wrestler."

"We might Alfred, he's not been in action much though I'd hope we'll see him in the eh Tournament."

"Folks, I'm getting word that we are to pass things on to Herb..." (C-)

{We go to Herb at ringside}

"BAD Alfred, BAD...REALLY??? I'll get to that later. For now though, what a night I have planned for everyone on Friday in New York. We will have all the UWF stars there, PLUS I have opened my big fat wallet and I'm hoping to bring you all the answer to a question that has been raging on since Nineteen FREAKING seventy nine!!! Don't forget that on the night you can pick up all the UWF merchandise. Oh, I almost forgot...CRAZY ME!!! Fans in the South West will be able to watch the action on KDOC-TV, providing they can stay up long enough." (D+)

Match #1
Mark Rocco defeats Riki Ataki (E+)

{Herb walks across to Mark as he leaves the ring}

"WOW, Mark are indeed a ball of fury and what better place."

"Yeah, yeah, the ball of fury on the FURY HOUR!!! Great, bloody know, I'm not here to...

{Alfred has now appeared}

"Is this your good news Alfred?"

"Well Herb, unfortunately Mark can't be in New York. That's bad news for our fans, but good news for the wrestlers in the back."

"I wouldn't want to fight him, I wouldn't want to fight you Mark."

"I'd kill you!"

{Rocco walks off}

"Fine fine fellow, his father was a master of the ring. Although, sadly he won't be in New York. I can promise some flamboyance though."

"You always bring that, but for now I see a match behind me that's about to start and it is going to be FANTASTIC!" (D-)

Match #2
Greg Valentine defeats David Sammartino (C-)
Valentine takes a microphone after the match

"See that, whomever has their name on the board next to me on Friday night. That will be your future!" (C)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"It's your Captain here again, with two things on my mind tonight. Firstly, the ask the wrestler letter is for me. I'm not a wrestler, but any way I have the letter right here and I'll give Justin his answer. I've managed many men in my career, some of them are in the UWF and some are not. It'd be unfair to say who's best, but what I can say is that one of the best will be in New York on Friday night. Now, to this man to my right. Paul, I don't think I ever managed you did I?"

"No Lou, you never had that wonderful experience."

"Oh I never had..."

"No, you never had. Now, why am I on here when I could be out in that ring?"

"I just wanted to ask you what you're doing Friday night. Will we see you against Williams, perhaps against Bob Orton even."

"You know what, just stop. You know I don't know, Herb keeps those things under wraps. I've had the bell ring and not even have my opp...ahhh that doesn't matter. Friday will be a wonderful night and, no matter who it is, I'll be the winner." (C-)

{We return to ringside as we see Iceman Parsons holding the ropes open to allow Larry Sanders to get in. Col DeBeers is outside.}

"I'll just wait here for my tag partner. I'll be in the match, but I'm not getting in there with you two negros!" (D+)

Match #3
Iceman Parsons & Tom Brandi defeat Ivan Koloff and Col DeBeers by DQ. (D+)
[DeBeers refused to enter the ring during the match. Koloff had Brandi close to submission when Parsons came in to make the save and DeBeers threw a loaded punch to knock Parsons out. As Sanders called for the bell, DeBeers attacked him too and we cut away from the ring.]

"Folks we're sorry, but we just can't show you what is happening in the ring. We have Herb in there shouting..."

"He should be punching Craig, punching and kicking. I'd get in there myself, but it looks like DeBeers is at least now walking away."

"Shocking shocking scenes right in front of us here. Parsons is out cold and Sanders is, well no need to tell anyone what has happened."

"Right, it looks like our next match will be cancelled due to time constraints. So, let's go over to Matt Borne who has some words for us." (C-)

Matt Borne cuts a promo.

"Orndorff, enjoy Friday night my friend. Next Wednesday night, right here on the Fury Hour, all your enjoyment ends as I defeat you in the Television Tournament." (D+)

UWF Rumble in the Apple - Week 4 January 1991

"Hello folks, it's time for the UWF to Rumble in the Apple. I'm Craig DeGeorge and you all know these three men either side of me."

"It's great to be back in the Apple, New York, where I won so many matches. Tonight though, we're all here I believe to answer a question."

{Herb looks briefly disappointed}

"Well Bruno, that's why I have asked to be in the ring just now. I did tell everyone that we'd answer a question that's been raging on since nineteen seventy nine."

"That's most most disappointing..."

"Tell me about it Alfred, but also let me stop you right there. BECAUSE I can now answer a question that is a lot more important. It's only been raging on for a few weeks, but I HAVE THE ANSWER. I've driven across country, I've been on the phone most of yesterday and I've been up all night. I look like crap, but this THIS doesn't...

{Herb pulls the belt from the bag he's been holding.}

"Wow Herb, that's the NWA World Heavyweight Title!"

"YES IT IS Bruno, feel like coming out of retirement? Ha, anyway, let me bring out the current NWA World Heavyweight Champion...Steve Keirn."

{Steve Keirn makes his way out and in to the ring. He shakes hands with everyone and receives his belt back.}

"Thank you for the loan Steve, we'll see you later on tonight."

"No problem Mr Abrams and, Bruno it's an absolute honour to be stood in the same ring."

{Steve leaves the ring again.} (C)

{DeGeorge and Alfred have left the ring and leave only Bruno and Herb.}

"So the UWF is now part of the NWA, that is amazing Herb. The UWF really is becoming the place to be!"

"You have no idea of my plans for the...oh, wait..."

{Steve Williams, Bob Orton Jnr, Ken Patera and Paul Orndorff have each come down to the ring from various corners of the arena.}

"Hi guys, neither of you are taking on Steve Keirn tonight..."

{Steve Williams grabs Herb and walks him back to the corner and against the turnbuckles.}

"The the...the UWF is though the new exclusive home of the NWA National Heavyweight Championship and you'll all be involved tonight."

{Herb sorts his suit jacket as the wrestlers back down and start leaving the ring.}

"Ha Herb, I shouldn't laugh. A Tournament though, right here in..."

"I never mentioned a tournament..."

{Bob Orton Jnr stops in his tracks, turns and walks back over.}

"What do you mean not a tournament? There's four of us, FOUR! Is it tag, man making the cover wins?

"Tag elimination then winning partners fight or last member wins?"

"Nope and nope."

{Bob scratches his head whilst the other three competitors wait in their positions at ringside and in the aisles.}

"What's...what's left?"

"All four of you, YOU'LL WRESTLE AT THE SAME TIME and the last pinfall wins."

{Orton gets in the face of Herb, obviously making a few threats, before leaving the ring. Outside the ring we quickly switchg round Williams, Orndorff and Patera as they point to the ring, shout threats and then make the taking the belt gesture prior to walking off. The ring clears as the Referee appears for the first match.} (B-)

NWA World Women's Championship
Debbie Coombs defeats Misty Blue
[Fairly standard women's match, the finish came when Misty missed a dive in to the corner and Coombs applied a grounded hammerlock.] (E+)

{DeBeers notices Lou Albano outside the ring...}

"Here to help the negro Lou, you don't want to get involved."

{Albano just stares at him.} (D)

Match #2
Iceman Parsons defeats Colonel DeBeers in a steel cage match.
[There was nothing scientific about this match. DeBeers was obviously unsettling Parsons each time they locked up. A rake to the eyes by DeBeers saw him follow it up by taking Parsons down and again it appeared as if he was whispering in Parsons ear. Parsons worked his way free, but in his rage missed a clothesline as both men got up and he was thrown in to the cage by DeBeers. The remainder of the match saw DeBeers working over Parsons until he had him tied up in the ropes. As the referee attempted to free Parsons, Larry Sanders had hobbled down to ringside. He rattled the cage with a walking stick, distracting DeBeers who also caught the towel that was thrown in and threw it back outside.

Parsons, now free from the ropes pushed DeBeers in to the cage and rolled him up for the three count.] (D)

{Post-match, DeBeers would corner the Referee then turn his attentions on Parsons and Albano as they left the ring. He clotheslined both men then went after Larry Sanders as the crowd started going crazy. DeBeers thought he was causing this and cornered Sanders against the corner of the cage on the outside. The crowd got wilder as DeBeers grabbed the walking stick, raised it and...had it ripped from his hand by ANDRE THE GIANT. Andre dropped the stick, grabbed DeBeers and threw him backwards in to the cage. As DeBeers bounced back, Andre picked him up and carried him out of the arena.} (C)

{For the benefit of the KDOC-TV coverage, we were taken to the announcers.}

"Wow Bruno, just wow!"

"Wow indeed Craig, Lou did warn DeBeers that he has friends."

"What a mighty mighty giant of a friend he has found." (B-)

Match #3
{This match was supposed to be Ivan Koloff versus B. Brian Blair, but it never took place. Koloff came down right behind Blair and launched him in to the remaining section of steel cage. Ring crew scarpered as Koloff went to work on Blair, pointing out at the fans and then pointing at Blair before throwing him at the remaining section again. A fan would leap the barrier, Koloff turned and his attempted punch was blocked. The fans hood came down and we'd all see it was actually Jim Brunzell. Koloff would back off and leave as Brunzell tended to Blair.} (C+)

Match #4
Matt Borne defeated Dusty Wolfe
[The finish came with a bridging German Suplex after an atomic drop.] (C-)

Match #5
Adrian Street defeated Steve Ray
[Four minutes of old school British mat work and Street's flamboyant gestures were finished off by a beautiful floatover suplex for the pin.] (E+)

{After the match, Herb and Alfred make their way across to Adrian.}

"Hello Alfred, I don't have Linda with me. She'd have loved to have seen you, it's been too long. Thank you for inviting me to the UWF."

"No problem Adrian, I..."

"So, are you?"

"Oh hello...whatever could you mean? That's nice isn't it Alfred. I should kick his teeth in!"

"Ha, Rollerball Rocco wanted to kill me!"

"Did heeeeeeeeeeee? Well, I can see why."

{Adrian storms off in a huff.} (C-)

Match #6
Cactus Jack defeated Riki Ataki
[Cactus hit the elbow off the ring apron then dragged Riki in to make the cover.] (D-)

NWA National Heavyweight Championship
Bob Orton Jnr defeated Steve Williams, Paul Orndorff and Ken Patera in a four way elimination match
[Surprisingly, Steve Williams was eliminated first in this one as he and Ken Patera first battled it out in the ring and then took it to the outside. Williams hit a running powerslam to the outside on Patera, but appeared to injure himself as he did so. Patera was able to get Williams back inside and apply an arm bar for the submission, before then being school boyed by Orton. Orton and Orndorff had spent the majority of the match until this point posing, gesturing, stepping out the ring and getting in each others face. Orton would eventually hit a piledriver and roll Orndorff to the outside, where he would lift up the matting. Before he could hit a second piledriver, Orndorff would manage to suplex Orton up and over. A sleeper hold by Orndorff was broken by Orton forcing him in to the ring post. A piledriver followed on to the exposed floor, with Orndorff being rolled in to the ring for the cover.] (B-)

{Herb presents Bob Orton Jnr with the NWA National Heavyweight belt.} (C+)

"Your son up next Bruno, versus Bam Bam Bigelow."

"Yes Craig and you know Bam Bam is a very tough competitor. I'm sure David will give a good account of himself." (C)

Match #8
Bam Bam Bigelow defeated David Sammartino
[The match was a good close tussle up until around the 8 minute mark. Bigelow took control when he threw Sammartino to the corner and hit a splash that nearly ripped the top rope from the ringpost. With Sammartino staggering, Bigelow hit a standing dropkick and made the cover.] (C)

NWA World Heavyweight Championship
Steve Keirn and Greg Valentine go to a 15 minute time limit draw
[Both men brought everything they had to the table for 15 minutes. Keirn's sleeper hold versus Valentine's figure four almost saw Valentine become the latest man to use the figure four to gain NWA gold. The action even moved outside, with the referee constantly reminding the men about the time limit. Sadly, on this occasion, UWF fans were denied the "finish".] (C-)

End of month:
I'm finding a number of workers feel they've outgrown the UWF. I'll retain kayfabe and not name any, you'll just notice them not appearing or maybe Herb will job them out/have them injured!

{I'm not going to provide reports from other promotions. You'll just need to try guessing who won the WWF Heavyweight title at the Royal Rumble...}

UWF February 1991

UWF Fury Hour - Week 1 February 1991

The show starts with highlights of the NWA National Heavyweight Title match from Rumble in the Apple.

"Yes folks, the UWF has a new Champion and he's a NWA Champion to boot. I'll be looking to bring more amazing NWA action to the UWF as we build towards Beach Brawl in July." (C-)

"Now, this week we have an Ask The Wrestlers letter that is actually for myself."

Ask The Wrestlers:

"Thank you for that Tim, you'll be receiving your deserved t-shirt and UWF goodie bag shortly. The simple answer is YES, yes we are going to be going round this fine land. That will be taking place in March and April, so WATCH THIS SPACE!" (E+)

"I can sense the shock from the guys, so let's get to them."

"Yes Herb, shock is certainly the word right now. Bruno..."

"Yes, eh, shock Craig and of course certainly very excited too. It's an exciting thing, I notice the fan was from Baltimore. Baltimore, you know, is a great City for wrestling."

"Indeed Bruno, a great great City with some very knowledgable fans."

"Only way to follow that is with more fine UWF action." (C-)

Match # 1
The Power Twins defeat The Batten Brothers (E+)

{We are taken to a promo by Ivan Koloff.}

"Stupid Americans. I told you I would take anyone in a cage, it doesn't matter even if it's a cage match. The cage was there, another stupid American was there...hahahaha!!! Brunzell, you had better be careful my friend. Better or I will see you soon!" (D)

Match #2
Greg Valentine defeats Riki Ataki (D+)

{Post-match, The Black Knight comes down to ringside and points at Ataki. Everyone, including Ataki, is pretty much bemused.}

"Well, we've not seen The Black Knight for a while here Bruno."

"Yes, eh, no we haven't seen The Black Knight here for a while."

"Very very worrying for Riki Ataki, a great young talent." (E-)

Match #3
Mark Rocco defeats David Sammartino (D)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"Hello everyone, Captain Lou here and you definitely recognise this man sat to my right. Andre, it's great to have you here."

"I told you I'd be here Lou and I am here, don't worry about that. The UWF fans will be seeing more of me, that's sure."

"That's great! Now you're here, what you gonna do with your life?"

"Hahahahaha, you've asked someone that before boss."

"Haha, yes I suppose I have."

"I'll answer the same way, I'm going to have fun. It was fun taking DeBeers away. You know, it felt good Lou. What else that feels good...being in the UWF. The UWF is the place to be, the UWF will have everyone looking its way. Who knows Lou, I will tell you one thing though...I'm here to wrestle." (C+)

{Highlight of Bam Bam Bigelow versus David Sammartino from Rumble in the Apple are up next.}

"A loss Bruno, with tonight's loss to Rocco back to back."

"Yes, two losses back to back Craig. He's getting himself in the..."

"I don't think you need to worry Bruno, David's a fine wrestler and let's not forget the great great depth of talent within the UWF roster." (D-)

{Steve Williams is walking down to the ring...we hear Herb's voice over the top of Craig DeGeorge.}

"Well, we weren't ex..."

"HE THREATENED he can have his tournament match tonight..."

"What do you mean he threatened you? Herb...Herb...?" (C-)

UWF Fury Hour - Week 2 February 1991

"Hello folks, I'm Herb Abrams and we have an ACTION PACKED Fury Hour for you tonight. It's a NWA showcase, as Steve Keirn will be here, we'll crown NEW NWA Tag Team Champions and Bob Orton Jnr will defend his NWA National Heavyweight title." (D)

Match #1
Mark Rocco defeats Chief Jay Strongbow Jnr (F+)

{Mark Rocco is at ringside with Lord Alfred Hayes.}

"Another fine fine victory for you there Mark, you must be...}

"FINE? Another fine victory? I've not wrestled anyone yet Alfred, I've wrestled myself tonight. That lad there, that lad, he's a bloody fancy dress act. I could have beaten him after thirty seconds, twenty if I wasn't caring about the performance."

"Ha, well that might be true though..."

"I'll tell you what, if that lunatic Abrams can't find some competition for me...well, maybe I should go and find it myself!" (D)

{Paul Orndorff is cutting a promo.}

"I may be through to the next round of the Television Title Tournament, where I'll face Bam Bam Bigelow. But, that's in the future. What's the here and now is that I want a match versus Bob Orton for his NWA National Heavyweight title. I don't even care where, when or how! Orton, that belt is coming my way!" (C-)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"Evening folks, let me bring in tonight's guest...Al Perez! Al, I've heard a lot about you and it's go..."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, good to see me in the UWF. You might be the only person to think that Lou."

"Why is that? You look so friendly..."

"Don't get in my face on my first night Lou? I'm here to..."

"I'll get in your face, I'll get in anyone's face..."

"Seriously Lou, you..."

"Get out! Go on, get out! I asked you here and..."

{Perez gets up and walks off camera.}

"...good!" (D+)

Match #2
Ivan Koloff defeats Iceman Parsons (C-)

{Ivan is about to set about Parsons, but just at the corner of the screen we see Andre with Blair and Brunzell. He gestures towards the ring, Blair and Brunzell make a beeline for the ring and we focus in on both men chasing Koloff away from ringside. Koloff races past Andre, who gives him a push. We return to the ring and follow the three men now leaving, as they reach Andre they notice he's down. Parsons, Blair and Brunzell look confused and we cut to Herb.} (C)

"Firstly, folks, apologies as tonight won't see any Television Title Tournament action. Greg Valentine was supposed to face Steve Ray, but injury to Ray means that won't happen. Secondly, Steve Williams...SEE YA! Nobody threatens me, so enjoy Japan! Back to tonight though and there's no Ask The Wrestlers. Why you ask...well...LOOK AT THE SIZE OF MY SACK. Go on, feast your eyes! This sack is full of letters to me, they are all asking me when the UWF will be coming to their town. Soon, folks...very VERY soon!" (D+)

NWA World Tag Team Championship
Cactus Jack & Adrian Street defeat The Wrecking Crew (The Grappler & The Equalizer)
[Cactus Jack handled most of the offence, with Street mostly being a distraction.] (D+)

"A fine win for your Countryman there Lord Alfred."

"Yes Craig, a fine win and what a wonderful wonderful combination those two look to be. Jack with his crazy style and Adrian, still, looking just fantastic."

"Guys, I think it's time to get back to the basics..."

"Thanks Bruno, you're right. Bob Orton is in ring..." (C-)

{Bob Orton is in ring with a microphone, we also see that Paul Orndorff is in the crowd.}

"Just you sit right back down Paul, you're not getting a match tonight. I can promise all these fans though that they are about to see a legend. A man who has been in the WWF."

"Who do you think it could be Bruno?"

"A man who has been in WCW."

"You know Craig, I'm just hoping it's not something gimmicky!"

"This man has faced countless great names and now he gets to face me. So, bring out...JOE CRUZ!!!"

"Wow, well, what a...wait, no...Craig, who is he? I'm a bit lost!"

"I think we're all lost Lord Alfred, even more so than usual it would seem." (C)

NWA National Heavyweight Championship
Joe Cruz defeats Bob Orton Jnr
[Bob was on top of this match for a good four minutes, though obviously distracted by Paul Orndorff's presence. The end itself was pure comedy. Orton had a groggy Cruz in a headlock and facing Orndorff. Cruz slid out, Orndorff moved towards the ring, Orton stepped back and tripped over Cruz who managed to roll up Orton and take the pinfall.] (D)

{A brief clip plays of the back of a blonde haired head, with the caption "Coming soon"} (D-)

Match #5
Steve Keirn & Don Muraco vs Bam Bam Bigelow & Matt Borne went to a ten minute time limit draw. (C)

UWF Fury Hour - Week 3 February 1991

"Evening everybody, Herb Abrams kicking things off here on the Fury Hour! Tonight, we will be talking to Joe Cruz in the ring and that will include his contract signing."

{The crowd pop and we see Bob Orton come down and stroll over to Herb.}

"Contract're having a contract signing? That guy stole my belt Herb, it was a fast count and you all saw it. Paul Orndorff shouldn't have been at ringside, he...come on Herb, you saw what happened. I want my belt back, I want Cruz in that ring, I want a cage around it, I want it in an empty arena..."

"Woah, just hang on right there. An empty arena! Are you trying to kill this company off. We're the ultimate in sports entertainment, there's no empty arenas. I'll talk to you in the back, let me get the show started and I'll..."

"Ahhhhhhh whatever Herb, whatever!"

{Orton storms off.}

"Sorry about that folks, but THAT'S JUST HOW CRAZY THINGS CAN GET. Back to tonight, we'll see our latest new signing and coming up right now we have The Tiger Mask!" (D+)

Match #1
Mark Rocco defeats The Tiger Mask
[Rocco looked confused, not to mention disgusted, at the start. Pointing at the worker under the mask and waggling his finger. He even walked to the edge of the ring and shouted out towards Herb at ringide. The match itself was brief, the referee having rung the bell before all of this, with Rocco finishing with his Black Tiger Bomb.] (E+)

{Rocco leaps out of the ring and heads for Herb.}

"What the...who the...that was not Sayama, that was not Tiger Mask."

"I never said it was!"

{Rocco grabs Herb, who drops the microphone.}

"I don't think that is going to help him Lord Alfred."

"No Craig, it certainly doesn't appear so and, ha, Rocco now has Herb in quite the predicament."

{Rocco picks up the microphone.}

"I've wrestled in Madison Square Garden, I've wrestled in Tokyo. In Japan I'm known as The Divine Wind. Yet I come here to the UWF and the only wind around here is the wind coming out of your bloody mouth."

{Rocco pushes Herb aside and storms off.} (E+)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"Greg, my friend, it's good to have you here with me."

"Thank you Lou, it's always good to catch up."

"Now, you're one of the wrestlers I've previously managed and..."

"It was a joy Lou, I was the best of course we all know that."

"Well, maybe..."

"MAYBE? Who's better Lou? Who...Andre? Respect to him, I know he's out of ac..."

"He is! Was that you Greg, did you take out Andre? I wouldn't put it past..."

{Greg storms off.} (C-)

LMLW Match
Misty Blue defeats Rockin' Robin (D-)

"Up next Bruno, it's David Sammartino in Television Tournament action. Not in the main event though."

"No, eh, not in the main event. Let's not forget though that only last year he was wrestling eh eh in Japan..."

"If I can just step in here Bruno. Not every great match was a main event Craig, Bruno is right in pointing out Japan. It's a tough tough, dangerous almost, place to wrestle and David handled himself there most admirably."

"Thank you Alfred, that's a kind thing you just said." (D)

UWF SportsChannel TV Title Tournament First Round match
David Sammartion defeats The Black Knight (D)

Ask The Wrestlers:

"Well Chris, I'll take on anybody at any time. I'm obviously still in the Television Title picture, maybe I'll ask for a special stipulation in my next match." (C)

Match #4
Bob Orton Jnr defeats Tom Brandi (D)

{Paul Orndorff is shown giving a promo.}

"I've been hearing some brave words from a certain Bob Orton. He's lost his title and wants to blame everyone except for himself. Herb, the count was fast or Herb, there was someone at ringside. I know, I know, I'm wonderful and it's hard to ignore me. So, Bob, let's settle things at the end of the month. Me and you in New York!"

"Oh I hope Bob accepts that challenge."

"As do I Bruno, that would be an amazing display of really really superb wrestling."

"Only here in the UWF folks, but enough from me Craig DeGeorge and let's get to the ring." (C-)

{We return to the ring and Bob Orton Jnr is standing in the corner as Herb enters. Herb gestures at Bob to stay back, Bob just crosses his arms.}

"If I can ask Joe Cruz to come out to the ring. Don't worry Joe, Bob will behave."

{Bob scratches his nose. Joe Cruz makes his way down to the ring.}

"Okay Joe, the first thing we're going to do is have you sign the contract on this clipboard."

{As Joe signs, Herb looks like he's just solved the meaning of life...}

"Hang on, WHERE'S THE BELT? It's through the back, RIGHT! You didn't want Bob to...SO YOU LEFT IT WITH SOMEONE."

"Ah, well, not e..."

{Bob walks towards him.}

"Right son, come on now. Where is my belt?"

"I was, I mean it, well...I mean it's my belt."

"JESUS CHRIST! Where's the belt? WHERE IS THE..."

"I was in the airport and Steve Williams was..."

"WILLIAMS HAS IT!!! He's in Japan, he's in bloody J..."

{Suddenly, music hits and we see a man walking down to the ring with the hood of a pink hood hiding his face. Herb can still be heard losing the plot.}

"Kid, you've really gone and done it now."

{The mystery man gets in to the ring and is about to remove his hood when he's attacked by Al Perez.}

"Christ...what the..."

{Herb leaves the ring, as Bob Orton drops Joe Cruz with one punch and follows Herb. Meanwhile Al Perez is laying the boots to the hidden faced wrestler, before hitting a German suplex then picking up a microphone.}

"First of all, I'm here to make an impact. Secondly, Lou, don't ever get in my face. It annoys me, it upsets me and when I'm like that I attack. Get it Lou, I attack."

{Perez leaves the ring as people come down to assist Cruz. They get to the hidden faced wrestler, whose hood drops down as they help him up. We get a good close up as he's helped to the back.}

"That's, yes I believe, it's Buddy Landel."

"Sorry Lord Alfred, I forgot you probably wouldn't know. He's the nature boy."

"Are you sure Craig, he doesn't look like the nature boys I'm aware of."

"No, Bruno, he's another one."

"Another one? How can there be another one? There shouldn't even be two of them."

"Ha, indeed Bruno. Was that in your absolutely wonderful book? A great great read."

"Well, we'd better get back to the ring for the main event of tonights Fury Hour." (D-)

Match #5
Masked Confusion, Iceman Parsons & Don Muraco vs Adrian Street, Cactus Jack, Ivan Koloff & Matt Borne went to a double stoppage. (C-)

UWF Fury Hour - Week 4 February 1991

"Hello folks, Craig DeGeorge here. First thing to highlight is the rolling information bar at the bottom of your screen, giving details of next month's Fury Tour."

{Monday wk 1: Indianapolis - Friday wk 1: Raleigh - Monday wk 2: Dallas - Friday wk 2: Cape Girardeau - Monday wk 3: Newark - Friday wk 3: Portland - Monday wk 4: Panama City}

"Keep an eye on local advertising folks, for venue information. On to tonight though and Herb isn't here..."

"One can only imagine where he has gone Craig, it can..."

"It's sure to be interesting Alfred."

"Ha, yes Bruno, very very interesting if nothing else. Ha!"

"On the show though, we will have a battle royal to find an opponent for Steve Keirn at Rumble in the Apple."

"It really is a fantastic deal we have here in the UWF with the NWA World Heavyweight title here."

"I don't know why anybody would want to be anywhere else, we really do have some fine fine talent."

"Okay, well let's get across to the ring." (C-)

Match #1
Ivan Koloff defeats Steve Ray
[In what was basically a squash match, Koloff destroyed Ray.] (D)

{Post match, Koloff applies a bearhug and is refusing to let go. Eventually, Masked Confusion come charging down to the ring. Koloff releases the hold and leaves the ring.} (C-)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"Hello again Andre."

"Hello Lou and hello to all the UWF fans."

"Interesting you say hello to the fans, because the mail we have had since your injury. I doubt even you could lift it."

"Well, that's nice and let me just say that I am fine. I've been told by the doctor to rest a little, so unfortunately I won't be wrestling just yet."

"Can you tell us what happened? We all have some idea, but..."

"I can't say for sure, but he's a very brave man. HAHAHAHA, very very brave."

"Or stupid...well, Andre, it's been great seeing you again my friend." (C+)

Match #2
Cactus Jack & Adrian Street defeat Tom Brandi & Joe Cruz in a non-title match (D+)

{Steve Williams walks out to the announce desk, he whispers in Craig DeGeorge's ear and hands him a piece of paper.}

"Call it...okay, hang on."

{Craig has a phone at ringside and is able to dial the number. A sleepy sounding voice answers...}

"Hello, who...?"

"Herb, Herb, it's Craig DeGeorge."

"Craig? I'm what...oh you won't know the time here...hang on, I'm..."

"Herb we're on air!"

"WHAT?'s gone everywhere...why..."

"Steve Williams is here!"

{William laughs, taps the belt bag over his shoulder, and walks off.}

"...I was going to...DAMN!!! Well, I won't be back for Friday now. Alfred, is Alfred there? Tell Alfred he's in charge."

{Herb hangs up.}

"Well Lord Alfred, looks like you're running the show on Friday.

"Really, wow! That is certainly exciting times, such a fine fine array of talent to work from." (C-)

Match #3
Al Perez defeats David Sammartino (D+)

{Perez looks down to the announcers as Buddy Landel appears...}

"Last week was supposed to be the debut of Buddy Landel here in the UWF. That was ruined by Al Perez, denying the fans and viewers the pleasure of seeing THE Nature Boy in action. Bruno, I'm Buddy Landel by the way. I've held Championships across the United States."

{Perez has by now left the ring and steps up to Buddy.}

"I never knew it was you, but now the big surprise has been're just as fake as that other Nature Boy! I've defeated some greats in the past, but're not worth my time."

{Perez walks off.} (D)

{We go to a pre-taped segment with Herb Abrams and Bruno Sammartino.}

"It's that time again Bruno, New York and the UWF's now monthly Rumble in the Apple."

"Yes Herb and you know it really is going to be some kind of a big deal. With the NWA involvement, the talent that is coming in and the great back to basics style of product that we have. Fans in the arena and those viewing at home will see quite a spectacle."

"Indeed, because this is the UWF and we are the ULTIMATE in Sports Entertainment."

"Yes we are!" (C-)

NWA World Heavyweight #1 Contender Match - 10 man battle royal
Bob Orton Jnr, CW Bergstrom, Don Muraco, Greg Valentine, Iceman Parsons, Ken Patera, Matt Bourne, Paul Orndorff, Steve Doll and a Mystery masked man competed. The Mystery masked man took the win to become number one contender.
[The two guest NWA workers were first to be eliminated, with the final three eliminations being a combined Muraco and Parsons elimination. Orndorff was distracted by Bob Orton, who hadn't left ringside after Patera threw him out, then eliminated by the Mystery masked man.]

"There you go Lord Alfred, there's part of your job done ahead of Friday."

"Ha, yes indeed Craig my job has been partially completed by that mysterious masked man." (C)

{Same poster as before, but hey that's the UWF for you!}

UWF Rumble in the Apple - Week 4 February 1991

{This is the KDOC-TV version, hence the announcer segments etc.}

"Hello everyone and welcome to the greatest night in the career of Lord Alfred Hayes."

"Not many men have put on a show in New York."

"Ha Craig, you could indeed say it is a great night. Although, Bruno, I'm not entirely sure that I'm putting on the show. I'm just offering these fine fine UWF wrestlers the chance to go out in that ring and wrestle."

"So, sir, what do you have for us this evening?"

"Well, you know I can't tell you everything. I can tell you that my old friend Adrian Street will be in tag team action alongside the crazy and downright dangerous Cactus Jack. So, wow factor right there. This one may interest you, Steve Williams will be in action and..."

"Wow Alfred, does Herb know about this?"

"He does Bruno, I certainly wouldn't have made such a mistake as to use Steve unless he did. Even though Steve is in such great great shape! He'll be taking part in a NWA National Heavyweight Contenders match."

"Of course Alfred, we have the mystery man. Any rumours on that one Bruno?"

"No, no rumours eh on that one. I have spoken to many of the wrestlers through back, you know being the former Champion that I am it does tend to open doors and even mouths. But, on this occasion nothing. I'm not even sure he's here, but then again..."

"How could you be? Ha, oh the mystery of it all is certainly absolutely fantastic." (C)

{We cut to a pre-taped advert for the Fury Hour. Herb Abrams goes through the names, not that they'll all appear, plus a reminder of the upcoming tour of America.} (E-)

NWA World Women's Championship
Debbie Combs defeats Judy Martin
[A fairly standard women's match as Judy dominated the majority. Combs would take advantage of Judy showing a bit of complacency and took the win with a neckbreaker.] (D-)

{Bob Orton has appeared at ringside.}

"It looks like he's looking for you Alfred."

"Yes, I do appear popular this evening don't I. Now Bob..."

"Don't now Bob me, just give me the answer to one simple question."

"Well, I'll certainly..."

{Greg Valentine appears, Paul Orndorff isn't far behind and pushes Greg out of the way."}

"This is typical, trying to duck out of facing me tonight."

"I'm ducking out of nothing Orndorff, I'm here to find out about this Nation..."

{Valentine pushes Orndorff.}

", well I don't..."

{Andre the Giant makes an appearance, causing things to calm down a little bit though Orndorff, Orton and Valentine are still making themselves heard.}

"Andre, wow what a surprise. Are you, surely you're not here to..."

"Wrestle? No, no, I'm not here to wrestle unfortunately. I'm here to offer my assistance, just in time it looks like...HAHA! I just want to have fun."

"Well, how about have some fun as a guest Referee outside the ring. I always find there's a lot going on that shouldn't be."

"Okay, you have a deal Alfred."

"You three had better go and get ready, the contenders match will be coming up before you know it if you're not careful."

"What sort of match is it?"

"You'll, if you don't mind, the UWF crowd deserve some more fine fine action." (C+)

Match #2
Buddy Landel defeats The Viking
[The Viking was already in the ring as Landel's music hit. Landel entered the ring and found himself attacked immediately by The Viking. His robe still on, Landel was thrown to the turnbuckle and The Viking charged in. Landel moved aside and wrapped The Viking up in his robe before pushing him outside. The Viking injured his knee as he landed and stuggled to get much offence in as a result. Landel would eventually take the win with the figure four.] (D-)

{Landel takes a microphone after the match.}

"So, no doubt you're all wondering why Buddy Landel has came to the UWF. Well, it's time to put some gold around this fine waist..."

{No sooner than Buddy mentions gold, Al Perez comes to the ring and takes Landel out from behind. The pair brawl out of the ring and Buddy disappears to the back. Perez gets back in to the ring.}

"Suddenly, Landel, you're worth my time." (D)

Match #3
Al Perez defeats David Sammartino
[This match was fairly even, with Perez almost looking impressed with Sammartino's early offence. The early didn't last long, as the repetitive working of the arm soon led to Perez rolling away from an attempted knee drop. Al would work the neck for most of the match from here. The finish came right after Perez hit a swinging neckbreaker on the outside. Sammartino would get back inside and, as he regained his composure, Perez would hit a flying elbow before making the cover.]

"I shouldn't say it, as he's just defeated my son, but Perez impressed me out there."

"Impressed is the word Bruno, though I'm sure Landel would not agree." (D+)

NWA World Tag Team Championship
Masked Confusion vs Adrian Street & Cactus Jack ends with a double stoppage
[As before, Adrian started the match then made an early tag. The match itself didn't last long, a referee bump was the perfect time for Ivan Koloff to appear and attack Jim Brunzell. Things quickly fell to pieces, with Iceman Parsons also getting involved as he attempted to save Brunzell only to be pushed towards Cactus Jack and then attacked. The Referee made the only decision he could as he got to his feet and saw the chaos going on.] (C)

{Another pre-taped advert, this time the UWF fans watching on KDOC-TV are reminded about Bruno Sammartino's book, the American Tour and the stars of the UWF.} (E+)

Match #5
Matt Borne defeats Steve Ray
{Fairly standard generic squash match} (D+)

{Lord Alfred requests that the six competitors for the next match make their way to the ring.}

"It gives me great pleasure to announce that the next match will be a twenty minute match. The winner will be the man who takes the most decisions during the match. The winner will also receive a NWA National Heavyweight Title opportunity at a future time." (C+)

NWA National Heavyweight Contender Match
Paul Orndorff defeated Ken Patera, Don Muraco, Greg Valentine, Bob Orton Jnr & Steve Williams
[The match started relatively normally, with Valentine, Orton and Williams picking their man and taking the battle to the outside. Andre, who was of course the guest referee at ringside, kept out of the way and allowed the battle to go along. Williams would slam Muraco on the floor then double team Patera alongside Orton as Orndorff and Valentine traded blows. Eventually, Patera would be taken out and Orndorff would find himself triple teamed. The action would finally get back in the ring and Orndorff was slowly disected. Fifteen minutes passed without a single pinfall or submission, Patera and Muraco both getting back in to the match though nothing remotely technical was taking place. Around the 16 minute mark, Orndorff would suffer at the hands of Williams with a powerslam...

"What a great great match so f..."

Just as Lord Alfred was about to complete his piece of analysis we would see Bob Orton just turn and blatantly break Steve Williams nose. Orton would direct Valentine to hold Williams as he continued...

"My word, what a punch there from Bob Orton. It just goes to show there are no..."

...with another punch straight to the face.

"...well, I I. Bruno, this doesn't feel at all proper does it."

"No Alfred, it doesn't. Craig is sat in shock besides us, the UWF fans have started booing. I don't like what we're seeing here if I'm honest."

Orton and Valentine would cover Williams at the same time and make a three count, before rolling Williams out the ring and making way towards Orndorff. Patera and Muraco got back in the ring, but before they could do anything we would see Andre reach in and grab both Orton and Valentine by the legs and pull them out. Andre would crack both their heads together and throw them back in the ring. Patera and Muraco used the opportunity to get a pinfall each...counted by Andre. As they got up, Orndorff clotheslined them both out the ring and then covered both Valentine and Orton. Again, the counts were made by Andre.

"I make that two to Orndorff Alfred."

"Yes Craig, though I don't think the result of this match will be the main story."

We see a get a close up of Steve Williams, his face is covered in blood and KDOC-TV's coverage cuts from the action...] (C)

{KDOC-TV's coverage came back from an ad break with the main event.}

NWA World Heavyweight Championship
The Mystery Man defeats Steve Keirn
[An excellent match rounded off the night, with the fans almost forgetting the match that had gone before it. Keirn upped his game, giving as good as he was receiving from a mat offence perspective. Eventually Keirn would attempt to rip-off the mask, with extra Referees appearing to try and stop him.

"That's a bit unusual Lord Alfred."

"They're just looking to maintain order Craig, this is a World title match."

The mystery man would fight Keirn off and used the opportunity to send him chest first in to the corner. As Keirn staggered back, the mystery man would pull off a neckbreaker and go for the first cover. Keirn would kick out, but was very quickly hit with a snap float over suplex and the mystery man would take the win.] (B-)

{KDOC-TV's coverage stopped after the three count, so we can't bring you the identity of the mystery man.}

UWF Fury Hour - Week 1 March 1991

"Herb, please, if you'd let me finish. I've been around the business and I know things happen in that ring, I've seen many things happen in that ring. But, last night, sitting at ringside..."

" didn't feel right. Am I right in saying that Alfred?"

"Well Bruno, it certainly didn't feel right and it did feel like you're right. It was one nasty incident in the ring, with Steve Williams receiving a rather awful looking injury."

"Okay, okay, I SEE what's going on here."

"Nothing is going on here Herb, we're not blaming you..."

"Oh indeed not Bruno, no no Herb you...well, we're stopping the show going on here. Why don't we allow the opening match to go ahead and we can discuss off camera."

"Okay, OKAY, I can bring the fans the amazing UWF news after this match." (D+)

Match #1
Iceman Parsons & The Batten Twins defeated The Viking & The Power Twins (D)

{An advert plays, we see some UWF action and then the voice over kicks in...}

"You've seen the best, the ULTIMATE in sports entertainment. Now, become the best as you train with the best..."

{...the picture switches to a training area. There's one ring, some bleacher seating to one side and in the distance you can see weight machines.}

"...AT THE UNIVERSAL ZONE! Yes, that's right, you could the next UWF SUPERSTAR. But, it doesn't stop with being a wrestler. We need Referees, ring crew, technical staff and even on air talent. You don't even need to be male! Have you got what it takes to train at..."

{A close up now of Herb.}

{We're back at ringside with Herb and Bruno."

"Wow Herb, a training zone! That can only..."

"Know the best bit? Go on...GUESS...Jesse Ventura is the trainer!"

"WHAT??? Wow, that's some amazing thing right there. Jesse Ventura, well who'd have thought it."

"Back to tonight though and, you know what, let's get Bob Orton Jnr out here."

{Bob Orton Jnr makes his way to ringside.}

"Bob, Bruno has..."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, Herb. I know what's going on, I know what's been said. I'm no fool, there were six men in that ring. That's the thing that wasn't right Herb, that's why it didn't feel right. It's not ballet boys, Steve Williams got what was coming to him. Ta..."

{Herb grabs Bob's arm.}

"...woah there Herb, hands down now son...

{Bruno decides to step in.}

"Well, how about eh you know we give you what's coming to you!"

"A title shot? My reeeeeee-match maybe?"

"No, not even close, a match later tonight against Ken Patera."

"Patera? Are you kidding me on here? You're not a booker, get back behind that desk over there Sammartino or I'll get myself a match with your son. Tell you what, I'll take that match..."

{Orton wanders off, muttering.}

"...take Patera's mind off of insulting the fans."

"Okay, phew, well folks I'll have to again wait to bring you the major news. It's all go tonight, WOW! Hey Bruno, Bruno...what did he mean about Patera..." (C-)

Match #2
Masked Confusion defeat Mark Rocco & Matt Borne by DQ
[The DQ came after Matt Borne had Jim Brunzell caught up in the ropes and Mark Rocco ran to the other side, pulled B Brian Blair down and threw him in to the ringsteps. He then joined Matt Borne in the assault on Jim Brunzell.] (C)

{Mark Rocco is stopped by Craig DeGeorge.}

"Save it Craig, save it or you'll get the back of my hand. These two guys up there, you'd think they had enough on their minds with Ivan Koloff. But, they accept a match against us. See him, this man here, hard as nails...nails! They weren't ready, the UWF isn't ready, nobody is ready for what the two of us bring to that ring. Disqualified for tying a man up in the ropes, you'll have nancy boys watching this show and nobody wants that. It's wrestling, let us wrestle!"

{Rocco wanders off.} (D+)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"What a night we had in New York. Andre kept a bit of order, Steve Williams got a bit of colour the hard way and this man became the number one contender for the NWA National Heavyweight Championship."

"That's right Lou, it was a Wonderful night on Friday night. I'm going to take my time though, because I have it on good authority that Bob Orton Jnr can't get a shot until I do. But, I'll protect that title until I decide to take on Joe Cruz."

"Moving on Paul, who do you think the mystery man is?"

"It doesn't matter, to be perfectly honest Lou. That mask will come off and, you know what, I'm calling him out now. Whomever he is, Mr Wonderful is putting you on notice. Know what Lou, I'll look good with two belts...I'll look..."

"That's right Lou, Wonderful!" (C-)

Match #3
Bob Orton Jnr defeats Ken Patera (C-)

{Herb grabs Patera after the match.}

"I heard about Friday night. Do you think that's acceptable? PUSHING FANS, ignoring fans! Hey, hey, listen to me. I gave you a new contract, MORE MONEY! You've won one match, ONE, since then and that was against Corporal Kirchner! If those fans were booing you...know what...I'm booing you. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! !"

{Patera just storms off.}

"Sorry folks, phew...on to Ask The Wrestlers." (D+)

Ask The Wrestlers:

"Well Brian, I'm not really thinking about Al Perez. I'm just thinking about winning matches and getting some gold around my waist." (D-)

{Herb is at ringside with Lord Alfred.}

"Well, Alfred, first of all thank you for Friday."

"Not a problem Herb, it was an absolute pleasure to bring the UWF fans more great great wrestling."

"Indeed and with that in mind...ARE YOU READY? Ready to hear the announcement..."

"I'm certainly gripped with excitement, certainly if it's going to top the Universal Zone announcement made earlier."

"Oh it is going to top that, you can bet all the tea in India on it! READY...HERE GOES...The UWF are going to be ON PAY PER VIEW!!!"

"Wooooooooooooow! That is indeed an amazing piece of news. Just out of the corner of my eye I can see Bruno Sammartino high fiving Craig."

"Bruno Sammartino high fiving, I need say no more. Let's go to the ring, where our mystery man and new NWA World Heavyweight Champion is going to wrestle an exhibition match versus David Sammartino." (C)

Match #4
The Mystery Man defeats David Sammartino in an exhibition match
[The match began as a mat classic, but the mystery man soon took over and hit a piledriver out of nowhere. That was pinfall one of the exhibtion match and the mystery man lay in wait for Sammartino to cover. As Sammartino rolled on to his front, his arm was grabbed and the mystery man appeared to be complete three or four arm wrestling style pins before locking in a hammerlock and taking a submission victory.] (C+)

{REVEAL - Scroll over the text below to get the mystery man reveal and promo}

{Post match, the masked man stands centre of the ring and slowly removes the mask to reveal himself as RICK RUDE! Herb races in to the ring with a mic.}

"Surprise!!! Yes, Rick Rude is in the UWF and the NWA World Heavyweight Title belt is around my waist. It's time to take notice and you'd better believe that everyone here, everyone in the back and everyone watching will see Rick Rude systematically take apart anyone who is mad enough to step in this ring!" UWF Fury Hour - Week 2 March 1991

"Yes folks, you've decided to treat yourself and watch another hour of...THE FURY HOUR!!! Not bad eh Bruno!!

"No Herb, eh not bad and I have a question. An Ask The Owner segment you could say."

"Haha, inventing your own segments now. Well, we are the ULTIMATE in Sports entertainment. Fire away Bruno my friend."

"Well, I'm sure I'm not fact I know I'm wanting to know what the first UWF Pay Per View will be."

"It is scheduled to be Beach Brawl in June, but you know me Bruno..."

"I certainly do Herb, you can be a little bit on the crazy side at times."

"Indeed I can, CRAZY HERB! Now, let's throw it over to Craig and Lord Alfred." (C+)

"Thank you Herb and what amazing news about Beach Brawl!"

"Amazing is certainly the word Craig, Beach Brawl is sure to be an outstanding night of sports entertainment and indeed wrestling as our wrestlers are so very very good at bringing to the UWF fans. Now, before we go over tonight's card, I feel it's only right to inform our fans about Ken Patera."

"Yes Alfred, sad news for Patera fans nationwide as he is injured and out for the next two months. But, never fear, I'm sure he'll be back as good as ever."

"Certainly hope so, but back to tonight and the action we have in store for our fans."

"Well Lord Alfred, we have Rick Rude in action and there'll be an appearance from Lou Albano and his guest."

"Plus, not forgetting, the NWA National Heavyweight Champion will be in action."

"Indeed he will and, now, let's get to our first match." (D)

Match #1
Mark Rocco defeats Dusty Wolfe (D-)

{Mark Rocco is stopped by Lord Alfred.}

"Does Herb still think I'll kill him?"

"Well Mark, ha, I'm sure he's..."

"He should be! Week after week of nothing, then one week with a decent partner. We get disqualified for nothing, by a nancy boy referee, and I'm back to nothing. That man in that ring, look at him...he's not up in my league Alfred. I'm the Rollerball, a Maniac, the Divine Wind. Doesn't matter where I wrestle, I...know what Alfred, I'm going to go to the nearest Airport. I'll go to the nearest Airport and I'll hold up a bloody card with "Wrestler" written on it."

"Why would you waste your time doing..."

"Doing that! Why? I'll tell you why, it's the best bloody chance I've got of getting near one!" (D)

Captain Lou's Corner:

"Well, it's time for me to speak to one of the UWF roster yet again. This time I have Bob Orton Junior with me..."

"Listen up Lou, just you stand there and shut up sunshine..."

"Sunshine, shut up...I'll..."

{Bob just looks down at Lou.}

"You'll WHAT Lou? You've never beaten a man in your life and Andre isn't here to help you. Just let me get on with what I came here to do."

"Well, go on then..."

"I will, if you shut up! Jeez...right...Orndorff! This is going to end and it's going to end in New York! You are going to go round the country defending Joe Cruz. I BROUGHT CRUZ IN HERE! That back stabbing little snake...that...that...AHHHH!!!! You know what, Paul, Rumble in the Apple at the end of the month. I'll take on both of you in a steel cage, yeah that's right...boooooooooth of ya!"

{Bob winks to camera.}

"I saw that. What was that? What have you got..."

{Bob turns and goes to punch Lou before stopping short.}

"Yeah, thought so!" (C-)

Match #2
Misty Blue & The Black Knight defeated Debbie Combs & Sunny Beach (D-)

"Wow, what action so far. What more can we bring you? Well, how about this book on the legend that is Bruno Sammartino." (D-)

Match #3
Bam Bam Bigelow defeats Buddy Landel (C-)

{Landel is just getting back to his feet when Al Perez races in to the ring and throws him in to the corner. Landel reels back and is hit with a perfect german suplex. Perez leaves the ring and comes to the announce table.}

"Not thinking about me huh! Hahahaha!" (C-)

{An advert plays for Lou's Celebrity Hotline.}

"Wow, Lou certainly has his contacts Lord Alfred."

"Ha, yes he has." (D+)

NWA National Heavyweight Championship
Joe Cruz vs Matt Borne
{This match never got started. Borne came to the ring first, followed by Paul Orndorff and Joe Cruz. Paul Orndorff was in the ring getting in Borne's face when Bam Bam Bigelow came running back down to ringside and attacked Joe Cruz. Cruz was sent sprawling on the outside, as Orndorff turned to see what was going on.}

"Hey Paul, over here man! Yeah, here, this is what should be on your mind. Not Cruz, not Orton, me..."

"I can only assume Alfred that Orndorff and Bigelow are to face off in the Television Title Tournament."

"Wow, ha, I'd forgotten about that Craig. What with so much just fine fine action going on in the UWF these days." (C)

Match #5
Cactus Jack, Adrian Street & Rick Rude defeat Masked Confusion & Iceman Parsons
[At one point, we saw Ric Rude leave the match and lay across the announce table. He'd repeat this a few times, commenting that the fans were more interested in that anyway. Eventually the Referee would be distracted, as were Masked Confusion, allowing Ivan Koloff to appear and attack Iceman Parsons. As Masked Confusion chased Koloff to the back, Rude would tag himself in and make the cover.] (C)

"What action do we have for our fantastic fans tonight Herb?"

"Well Alfred, we're only a week and a bit away from out next visit to the Big Apple. So we're SURE TO HAVE SOME ACTION."

"Ha, we usually do. I imagine we'll see Paul Orndorff..."

"Oh, of course we'll see Paul Orndorff as he'll be in action against Bam Bam..."

"You appear slightly ill at ease Herb. What's wrong with you?"

{Tom gives Herb a funny look and heads to the ring.} (D+)

NWA World Tag Team Championship
Adrian Street & Cactus Jack defeat Tom Brandi & Riki Ataki
[Point of note is the fact Tom Brandi was piledriven through a ringside table.] (D+)

{After the match, Herb is at ringside.}

"Great to see Riki back in action. Obviously worried about his tag partner right now, but let's get him over here. HEY RIKI, RIKI, YEAH...over here pal, come on."

"Hello Mister Abrams."

"Yeah, yeah, hello. Now, this week for a change I'll be handling the Ask The Wrestlers segment and it's a question for you. You're just back from injury, an injury that had you out for just over a month. Yet now, Ken Patera is out with the exact same injury...EXACT SAME...and yet he's going to be out for two or three months. My question is, Riki Ataki, are you better than Ken Patera? Is Ken Patera past it? I know, I know, you're a humble man and you won't answer. I respect have a great future ahead of you kid. The Black Knight certainly seems interested in you, but hey thanks for coming over. Riki Ataki folks..."

"Sometimes that's enough Alfred. I've had many battles, great opponents and respect is very very important to eh eh maintain a you know a good...well, you know what I mean Alfred."

"Indeed he does Bruno. I also believe that you were recently home in England."

"I certainly was Craig, I attended a reunion with some friends and we even had a chance to watch some UWF action."

"Are you going to write a book?"

"HA, well I think I'll leave that to Bruno. In fact, Bruno, I believe your son is coming up next. He had a NWA Heavyweight Championship match during the week didn't he."

"Yes Alfred, thank you for mentioning that. He didn't win, but he's getting involved in the right way and I'm very proud." (C-)

Match #3
David Sammartino defeats Al Perez by count out.
[Al Perez was in total control until Buddy Landel distracted him and Perez chased him out the ring.] (D)

"Hang on there, I've asked you on here and..."

"DID I NOT...tell you to shut up? Why am I even here...I have the belt. The UWF has gone to a new level since I came here. The wrestlers are..."

"You know what, this is over."

{Rick steps up to Lou.}

"Oh my friend, don't think for one second that you can control this. Maybe next week it'll be the Rude Moment instead of Lou's Corner. One word to Herb, that the NWA Heavyweight Champion wants some time to talk. He'd take your little show off the air, cancel you Celebrity hotline and..."

UWF Fury Hour - Week 4 March 1991

"Beach Brawl, where the ultimate in sports entertainment will enter your living room via pay per view. Starring aaaaaaall the top UWF stars." (E+)

"Yes folks, BEACH BRAWL!!! The UWF's first Pay Per View. I'm looking across at our announce team, THEY'RE EXCITED...they can only lip read me saying Beach Brawl! Just wait until the show, JUST WAIT!!! But folks, you don't need to wait until then for the big stories in the UWF. Right now, boy am I excited...right now, I'd like to bring out Kevin Von Erich."

{Kevin Von Erich comes down to ringside.}

"Go on Kevin, get in the ring and take the applause!"

{Herb starts applauding as Kevin enters the ring, salutes the fans and comes back out."

"Wow Herb, what a crowd. The UWF and International..."

"Hang on, hang on, let me announce it first."

"Sorry Herb, just so darned excited!"

"YOU'RE EXCITED, look at me...I'm sweating folks! Okay, so the UWF have entered in to an agreement with International World Class Championship Wrestling and that will develop over time. The IWCCW have even been accepted in to the NWA."

"Wow, I didn't know that last part. That's amazing Herb!"

"Well, it was the only way I could get you here. Oh wait, I almost forgot...Why are you here?"

"Herb, you know, the name World Class Championship Wrestling is obviously close to my heart and close to my families heart. I'd spoken to the Savoldi family and, you know how it is, you discuss things and you wait and see. Then you phoned and, long story short, placed me in charge at IWCCW and I can't thank you enough. We'll keep the name alive, we'll work with yourself, we'll work with the NWA and, tonight, I'd just like to work a match as a thank you."

"WOAH...a Von Erich on UWF television."

"I'll wrestle whomever you decide, there's so many great legendary workers here. You could almost have a night of legends."

"YES WE COULD! Someone note that down...hey Alfred, you can put it together pal..."

"Ha ha, alright then! Well, I'll just go to the back and get ready."

"I need to sit down, I did have more news and I'll get to that at another time. A Von Erich in the!" (D-)

"Wow indeed Herb and, Bruno, Alfred, I'm lost for words."

"You know Craig, Fritz Von Erich is a great man. He raised great sons and it's been such a tragedy what has happened to the family."

"Did you see that Alfred? The new flavour, the little jumping bean from Mexico..."

"Now Mark, I don't think that's quite fair."

"FAIR, I was brought in and I received joke competitors. One guy looked like he'd bought an Indian costume for fancy dress night. I had a match with Matt Borne, we tore down the building. Fans have written in, they've demanded more. You won't see it, you won't get me being asked a question. What did I get? I got the same nonsense I had in England..."

"Mark, come on now. Surely not, you can't be suggesting that..."

"Oh I'm suggesting, I got the same silly Mark, tone it down Mark, we'll need to pull you from TV if you're not careful Mark. Well, New York, Rumble in the Apple. I'll show you what's fair, I'll show Lizmark what's fair...two out of three falls, that's fair. That'll give Lizm...!"

"You know, there's no need for the question to be asked. I've been asked it in the street and I've been asked it in the shops, all the way from Panama City to Las Vegas. It's a long drive, even longer when your tag partner isn't there to talk to. B. Brian Blair has had a tough time of it. Ivan Koloff has made his life hell and my life hell, but I'll see him in New York. Koloff, get ready!" (C)

Match #3

"Obviously nothing has been settled here and it's far from a wonderful night for Mr Wonderful..."

{Orton has appeared by this point.}

"Misses Wonderful you mean. With your robe there, your wee male friend that you look after. Yup, Misses Wonderful sounds just about right. Unless, that is, you want to be a man about things."

" a man! That's a cheek coming from you, don't you have Bam Bam Bigelow to worry about. You should be watching your back."

{The finish from the TV Title Tournament match is played as they both talk over it.}

"Me worry about Bigelow? I can talk to Bigelow, don't worry about Bigelow or even my back. Worry about your friend and his belt, worry about what I'm going to do next. Or..."

"Or, take the cage match. I win and I get a title shot versus Joe. You win and I move on, you can have your title match and maybe you'll stop losing to Matt Borne."
