Great start. Looking forward to reading a couple of these diaries from the beginning for a change! So, are you planning on running this from the demo and continuing or waiting until the full release?

The backstory should be done by say...Monday So I'll be running the proper diary from the full version and not the demo

“So what do you think Seth?”

I didn’t have a hope of speaking, shock and awe just pumped through my body as I began to look around; this was home; my real home; now their home.

Situated in the middle was an already set up ring, 4 sided with red and white ropes. The black apron on the ring showed the initials ‘NOTBPW’ and something was certain for this company....soon enough North Of The Border wouldn’t be enough.

I stared at the space around the ring. Quite easily the biggest place I’d been in during my whole career a shudder went down my neck; tingling throughout my body...We had entered the Border House.

The Border House
NOTBPW Arena
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Canada

Jeremy began to walk from behind me; this was also his first time of seeing what had been accomplished. Dan had brought the commercial warehouse back in July with the intention of making it fit for usage in 2010. Outside the complex was a 1500 place parking area as well as a merchandise shop for the company. Over $250,000 had been spent on the whole space itself, but it was all worth it. I had Jeremy begin to speak and decided to pay attention.

Jeremy Stone: It’s everything you ever wanted Dad.

Dan Stone Sr: That it is son, we finally have an outlet for the company to put on the best shows we can. It’s only a matter of time before The Border House itself has the reputation that North Of The Border does.

I still stood looking shocked at the size of the place and staring bluntly at the ring. In just 2 weeks I would’ve competed in that ring, in front of everyone. My dreams fulfilled. Dan continued to talk to Jeremy; I didn’t take in much, talk of ticket prices increasing so that we could pay off the whole building in no time and make a profit again. He turned to me making my body shock into life and take in what he said.

Dan Stone: So we have five thousand two hundred seats in here. We know we are currently running at about four thousand for an event but we improve with every event that goes by. The added room is for the added fans we look to bring in.

I nodded and thought of something smart to say.

Myself: So, with this building, does this mean we won’t be looking to go out of the country at all?

Dan laughed a little before adjusting around with his wrists.

Dan Stone Sr: We will, eventually, but for the time being we need to get a firm hold of Canada. There is talk of TV networks in the US looking for our company as well as Mexico; same for the Pay Per Views. It’s all a matter of time. But cracking America...is finally an option.

I saw a small smile appear on Jeremy’s face. At times I felt bad for the Stone boys. They were never out of Canada despite being some of the best of all time. For the considerable future they had written contracts here too. But what would happen when they ran out, would they stay? Would they leave? Jeremy’s approaching retirement it seems but he always seems like he could go for another ten years. Dan Senior began to walk ahead as it left me stood with Jeremy all alone, in the Border House. One question had always been on my mind. It was time to ask it, now more than ever.

Myself: Jeremy....Whatever happened with Ed to make him leave for the US?

Jeremy just looked down for a minute, he looked quite taken aback with the question. But he managed to answer quite easily, never looking at me though as he did so.

Jeremy Stone: He got too wild, he got left to make his own decisions and he did. Now he’s doing what he wants, we do what we want.

Jeremy began to walk ahead of me, still not looking back. I felt I had to delve deeper.

Myself: Really though, sending out someone as wild as him on his own, was that really the best choice?

Jeremy finally turned to me, he just sighed.

Jeremy Stone: At the time it was, now...all I want is my brother here. He has the potential to be better than all of us. Me, Duane, Dan...even Dad in his day. If we could just get him back, he would become an icon with the skills to become a great, not whittling away his life in the undercard of a promotion ran by a man helping his own buddies out. That’s the way it goes though.

Jeremy looked quite lost from all of it; one final question had to be said.

Myself: And Duane? His reason for leaving?

Jeremy looked kinda defensive about it all. Like facing a firing squad with a baseball bat for company. He still answered though.

Jeremy Stone: Some people get too big for Canada, prime example is Duane. Dad speaks of him every day. How well he did. How proud he is. Same with Ed, despite what happened there he’s still more proud than any other father I know. Now c’mon Dad will be waiting for us.

With that Jeremy continued to walk through to the backstage area of the arena. Looking forward at all times. Through my mind only one thing seemed clear enough at the times, The Stone’s seemed a more broken family than the DeColt’s currently were, for entirely different reasons. One thing was even clearer than that though. Jeremy hadn’t spoken to his brothers for a while properly, he didn’t know the situations.

Catching up to Dan I asked Jeremy to walk ahead so I could have a moment with his father. Jeremy looked quite concerned, after what we spoke about he didn’t want the same with his father. A sixty five year old man couldn’t take it much better than Jeremy did. But I had all my wits about me, as Jeremy walked ahead I turned to Dan.

Myself: Dan, it's not everything you could ask for is it?

Dan looked at me, the age could be seen in his eyes. Tired almost as he spoke

Dan Stone Sr: You’ve spoke to Jeremy I take it?

He was a smart one, I’ll give him that.

Myself: I have. I let my head drop a little before raising it back up and pulling the hair from my eyes.

Dan, you know as well as I do what’s happening in wrestling right now.

He looked at me without a clue before a hint of realism took to his face.

I’m going to bring them home for you Dan, the House Of Stone is going to be stronger than ever.

He looked at me for a moment, a small smile appearing on his face and tears starting to well up his eyes. He took out a tissue from his pocket and rubbed it against his eyes before laughing slightly.

Dan Stone Sr:
Ah there going to need to get a cleaner in here, so much dust, I got some...I got it in my eyes.

I had to smile at the man, throughout all of it he tried to keep his tough man exterior.

Dan Stone Sr: Thankyou...thankyou.

And with that we moved forward in our journey. My first real challenge was to pull this off...and I wasn’t even in a job for another week.

I've always danced with the theory in my head that if NOTBPW expanded that there would need to be a name change. The same holds true with perhaps the problem of renaming the Canadian Title to reflect a change in World title status.

Bringing back the "wayward" Stones for an inter-family onscreen fued would be very interesting, as well.

That last post was awesome, I'm really interested to see whether you CAN get them both back, and if so, how good the matches will be with all of the Stones AND DeColt/Bloodstone there as well.

“You Know I should be in Japan right now yeah?”

Monday, Week 4, December, 2009

It was gonna be one of those days I think. Two separate meetings, on two different sides of Halifax with two men who didn’t seem at all happy to be there.

Dressed in my finest suit and my hair even neatly positioned I had to sell what was going to be achieved if I had any hope at all.

Across the table there he sat there, Black open collared shirt and suit trousers. Sipping on a glass of water at the table we were sat he looked disinterested to be back in Halifax.

But that was one thing for sure.

Duane Stone was back in Halifax.

Fernando’s Cafe
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Canada
Myself: Yes Duane I know, but that’s far from the point...you’re contract ran out last week and Hammer hasn’t contacted you about coming back in the slightest...

Note to self, angry Canadians without jobs....not a great combination.

Duane Stone: NOW LISTEN HEAR JACK*SS! I’M ONLY HERE BECAUSE YOU ASKED ME TO BE!

Duane stood up and made his way for the exit, realizing I may miss my chance I stood up and began to speak.

Myself: Duane....Duane? Can you please sit down...I apologize.

Duane sighed and made his way back to the table sitting down on his chair and taking more sips of his water.

Myself: Duane, you’re a former Best of the Super Juniors winner but you’re 35 now, how much longer can you really keep up with the young talent they have there today?

Duane just looked down, almost like his trousers could give him an answer.

Duane: Aye? What about GCG...they have talent of my age over there even now.

Myself: You really want to put yourself on a sinking ship...or one that continues to grow.

Duane: Why is it you’re trying so hard? To get the family back together? You’re not even in charge yet and already you feel like taking the Stone name...

Myself: I’m not trying to take the Stone name Duane, I’m trying to help your father, your brothers, your sister...your company. North Of The Border is on the verge of being huge, you’ve been away far too long in Japan; they miss you, I know they do...I’ve spoke to Jeremy...I’ve spoke to your Dad.

Duane just continued to keep his head down. I could tell this was hard for him. He left Canada to make a name for himself, coming back...would it really help him to be here again? He lifted his head and began to speak.

Duane Stone: Some people get to big for Canada son, one day you will realize that. Hell I could go to the US and take TCW or SWF...USPW. Why would I come back here...other than for my family?

What a question to answer, I had to get my head into gear and my business brain fully flowing.

Myself: Well, how can I put it...do you really want to end up like Edd? Languishing in the lower card not moving anywhere just to pick up a little extra money? You’re one of the best in the world...is that what is really needed?

Duane Stone: Have you spoken to Edd? I’m guessing you know his contract is up as well...

I just nodded. A meeting with Edd was planned for later.

Myself: I need to see him after this meeting.

Duane Stone: You’re flying to Hollywood?

WHAT! Stone was meant to be in Halifax right now at the Hotel I booked for him. I know he felt uncomfortable about being here with his family but really!?!

Myself: Apparently not...looks like he bailed before I could even speak.

Duane stood up himself. He began to put some notes on the table to pay for the meal beforehand.

Duane Stone: I’m sorry as well Seth. There’s just too much I could do, creating a legacy away from the family...

Myself: Interrupting Away from your friends?

Duane Stone: You could say that. But North Of The Border doesn’t need me, hell it doesn’t even need Edd really...

Duane walked towards the door and opened it not looking back. I stood up at the table trying to get my voice as loud as possible without creating a scene.

Myself: You say you’re not needed Duane, but is that because you’re worried you can be overshadowed. Sure go to a place like TCW or SWF...take Edd with you. Will you two ever properly be happy? Knowing you left what could be the real chance to make your legacies? At least stay till Wednesday, come see the show, I know the family would want to see you.

Duane continued to hold the door open.

Duane Stone: I can’t Seth. I have to catch a plane; I have things that have to be done.

And with that he left Fernando’s. Well looks like I’m two down on the grand scale of things aye. What’s even better is I wonder if I can be fired before I’m even hired, not delivering on promises aye...great.

Dammit, I wanted you to get them both... although maybe that WOULD have been too easy. I still live in hope that you'll bring them in eventually.

Enjoying the backstory so far, SWF Fan. Hopefully the House of Stone will be complete once again before Dan retires.

I stood there, frozen, flat footed and barely breathing.

A rabble of eyes stared over me, looking up and down, some looking impressed, some looking bemused, I must of been younger than near the whole roster sat before me, I must be a rookie in everyone’s eyes.

Yet here I was; Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The final week of 2009, the final week of my ‘freedom’

Wednesday, Week 4, December, 2009

Backstage at NOTBPW Championship Wrestling
Halifax, Nova Scotia,
Canada

Dan Senior and Victoria took the lead. They had expected everyone to be there after the show. It was one of those rare occasions where the roster was made to stay until after the final match. Well I say one of those rare occasions...soon enough that’ll all be different.

.

.

The whole roster sat down on chairs, positioned against walls, all in normal, everyday clothes. Hell even Dark Angel was ‘unpainted’ Canadian Dragon however kept his mask on. He knew there would still be fans outside after, best to keep in character I guess.

Dan Senior just looked over to his sons who turned to the rest of the troops almost as a moment of silence was about to be called, looking round I saw everyone become tight lipped. Notable alliances had been created amongst the room as well. Omar, Harlem and R.K. were sat together, The Natural and Owen Love were giving tips to Erik Strong and Flash; The Stone Brothers sat with Sean McFly beside them and The Fighting Irish around them, almost as if they were hoping for some influence, some way. Irish and Omar Brown were the notable wrestlers that still weren’t underwritten deals of the few that remained. Maybe it was for the best, if we could get a place to give them some extra work they can only really improve.

As Dan Senior’s voice boomed, the whole room listened.

Dan Stone Sr: Right, everyone knows why you’ve been called here today. Starting next week there will be a new man in power of the booking of North Of The Border...

A voice from the rabble interrupted

“You Call That A Man? He looks younger than me and I’ve still got a spring in my step!”

The whole locker room turned to see one Lord James King sat on a chair smirking smugly to himself. Nobody laughed at the joke but him, kinda sad really. Dan tried to continue.

Dan Stone Sr: Very good King; Ladies and gentlemen I would like to introduce you to the new head booker of the company, Seth Thomas

I just stood and slightly nodded my head to them. Rumbles around the room began to start, whispers of ‘who is he?’ and ‘this is a joke?’ began to circulate in increasing numbers until a familiar voice came to the rescue.

Sean McFly: Welcome Seth, I know you’ll fit right in at home here. I’ve heard of your work down in Calgary and I have no doubts you will be the bes...well second best booker North Of The Border has ever had.

This now. This was the Sean McFly I had heard about, the locker room leader, the champion of people, freely speaking what he believes. I saw Victoria give him a small smile, I knew she was on my side in some ways.

Victoria Stone: That’s right, Mr Thomas will take over on January 1st and I will be taking a less hectic schedule approach to the company for the time being. Now any serious questions for Mr Thomas?

She looked straight at King who went to put his hand up then decided against it. Employment must be high on his list of priorities...smart man. A rough voice came out through the crowd circulating over from the area of Hayes, Haynes and Omar. I could see Omar’s mouth moving, so I’ll take a shot in the dark it was him speaking over the rabble.

Omar Brown: What about us champs? The guys that made it here already? You got plans to just turf us out and bring in fresh blood...make you look a little bit older.

I went to answer but was cut off by Dan.

Dan Stone Sr: Let me answer that for you. The people in front of us now will have a job with North Of The Border for the considerable future at the very least. Admittedly new talent will be coming in, as with every year but this doesn’t mean you people here now are going...

Victoria Stone: Exactly. We look to expand in 2010 and move around a lot more. TV deals and PPV deals in the US and Mexico are what we are looking to achieve. To show rivals at CGC why we are the best in Canada and always have been, always will be.

*COUGH*

The whole locker room turned. Right at the back of the room, there he sat. The reason for all the cause and excitement in Canada right now. Lounging around on his chair, title belt on his shoulder. He slowly moved upwards noticing the crowd of people staring.

Steve DeColt: Flu Season, couldn’t be helped...great timing though.

What really was going through DeColt’s head on the whole issue? I mean he left his home for someone else’s, the more talented brother that was ousted as he got overlooked for the ownership. One day I would have to sit down and chat with him, until then I think the best option would be to regain control.

Myself: Dan, Victoria...if I may?

They nodded. I continued.

Myself: A few things are going to change around here from January. The company will be taking a more determined approach to a lot of things. We will be introducing more storylines and segments into shows, giving the fans a reason to tune in, a reason to watch all of it. Those of you that can talk the talk will be given the chance, those that can’t...well let’s just say a few new arrivals will be helping you with that.

You will be expected to stay for the full length of the show and be here three hours before hand. I say this because it gives us a chance to really go over everything that will be in the show that night sufficiently.

The whole room echoed with a groan of a few people. Not a great choice maybe? Or could I save it.

However after speaking to an accountant about the cost of the new arena and the next part, we have been able to determine that all ticket prices will be increased by $4 as a way of putting in extra money for you all to be able to get the benefits of Arena Catering, a masseuse and a chiropractor all at the new Border House.

As with most companies all smoking, drug taking and alcohol consumption backstage will result in a fine. We want you all in tip top health for the show and for your lives, so please take that into consideration.

Finally we have managed to set up a deal with some local hotels in Halifax that will offer discount to you for whenever you wish to travel here for shows. Don’t like travelling, start packing up and finding a house people.

It got a laugh, something was going right.

As Victoria said, we are expanding markets and with this means more wrestlers, more opportunities and more gold. We will be introducing two new titles in two weeks after the pay per view. Aimed more at the lower card we hope to add some more competition in the ranks. Any questions?

A booming voice bellowed out over the locker room as everyone turned towards the door.

"YEH! Are We Late?"

Steve DeColt: Wow...and people said this meeting was gonna be boring as well.

I saw Steve lie back on his chair next to Johnny both smiling at what had been said...only one thought could go through my head...

OH....S*IT

Some Quick O.O.C. notes:

I'm using the user preferences

Show Stats As Grades, Owner Goals On, Penalties for small roster,
repetitive booking, perfect show theory on, characts can be stale, Gimmick effects are on, Dirt sheet not hidden, industry and economy effects on, advance booking cannot be deleted, Momentum effects on, locker room and morale effects on, time limits on negotiations.

I'm setting random workers to debut from Janaury 2010, Turning Kenny deaths off.

I'm running my points with my User Talents this way:
Negotiating- 5
Motviating- 5
Creativity- 5
Leadership- 5

Edd Stone and Duane Stone both had their contracts changed from their respective contracts to NOTBPW through some 'god modding'. Now while I'm not a fan of this I felt it needed to be done for the storyline purposes.

Show ratios are being changed to 80% with more storylines than before and the product will be adjusted (once I get the game tomorrow) to give a small use of managers in the company.

The product now has low comedy and medium mainstream putting the product to 60% intensity.

All in all after that...Tomorrow starts the real game

Nice twist! After the disastrous conversation with Duane earlier I thought we might not see Duane for a while, never mind Edd as well.

As far as I am concerned you could have given them 6 year contracts for $0 - if it helps the storyline, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. This is, after all, your take on the universe and occasional artistic licence is nothing to worry about.
